Lost
I feel scared, lonely, abandoned! Where am I? How did this happen? How am I going to get home? What am I going to do? It's starting to rain now! Can this get any worse!?
It all started two days ago! I went with Ashley to the park near our house and while I was playing I saw something rustle in the long grass in front of me. I am very curious by nature and instantly went to see what it was! As I approached I saw that it was a tabby cat and when it saw me it instantly sped off towards the city! Thoughtlessly, I decided to pursue the cat and so I chased after it!
After chasing it for what seemed to be hours…but what was really five minutes, I lost the cat. When I looked around for Ashley so that we could go back home, I noticed that I was no longer in the park, but in the heart of the city, and that Ashley was nowhere to be seen! At first I remained calm… it wasn't the first time I got lost and I was positive that I would find my way home! After about two fruitless hours of trying to find my way home, realization hit me… I was well and truly lost!
I had no idea where I was, but I was no longer in the city. Houses of cardboard and corrugated plastic replaced the towering skyscrapers, the smell here was awful…even worse than the smell of car exhaust! There was no busy life here, no one hurried past you, hardly sparing you a glance! Here your every step was watched! It was now getting dark and I still wasn't home. I decided to find somewhere to sleep and eventually decided on a doorstep to a rundown house. At least here I would be sheltered from the worst of the wind and rain! I was woken from my disturbed sleep by a sharp pain in my stomach and found that the house owner had kicked me off her doorstep!
After this I found it impossible to sleep and so took to wondering the streets. I soon realized that I was approaching the heart of the city again! While wondering if I was ever going to see my mistress again, I heard my name! "Maui! Maui!" I looked in the direction of the voice, and there I saw her and ran into her welcoming arms! My mistress Ashley – dog's true best friend!
