Your quill is suspended over a half-finished Potions essay, your eyes carefully trained on her thin frame. She sits with the ramrod-straight posture that has been ingrained in her since birth, and you work to memorize every elegant curve, the way her beautiful blonde hair flows ever so perfectly down her back.
"Lucius. Lucius!" Avery snaps, waking you from your reverie.
"What?" you ask, trying to clear thoughts of Narcissa Black from your mind so that Avery wouldn't be suspicious.
"What're you staring at?" he asks, half-bemused, half-annoyed.
"Nothing," you mutter, shaking your head slightly and returning to your essay.
Under the pretext of looking something up in your textbook, your mind wanders back to settle amongst thoughts of Narcissa.
You fantasize about her—this is so unlike you, you think. You wonder what she was like when she was young, and you wonder about her life at home. You dream about living in a 'fairy tale' world with Narcissa as the princess and you as the prince who comes rushing in the nick of time to save the day.
Plucking up all your courage and realizing that there's no way for your fantasies to become reality unless you make the first move, you lay down your quill and walk across the common room, your destination firmly set in your mind—Narcissa.
Steeling yourself and looking directly into her eyes as blue as a crystal-clear pond, you put all fear and anxiousness aside as you say, "Narcissa Black, I will fight off dragons to be your prince; will you do me the honour of becoming my princess?" You don't focus on the fact that the entire House is watching you, all you can see is her. You pray that she says yes, that she doesn't let you down after all the strength you've put forth to get this far.
"Of course," she says proudly, taking your hand and following you off to the pair of armchairs near the fire.
