AN: I had this laying around, so I figured I'd post it. It's really short, but very cute.
As much as I wish I did, I do not own Harry Potter and the Wizarding World. Oh well. Maybe I'll come up with a vampire franchise- oh wait. Talking cats? Never mind.
Neville Longbottom wanted one thing that day: To arrive to class on time.
Herbology was truly the only class he really enjoyed. McGonagall was never happy with his progress, and Snape was… well… Snape.
He rushed down the hall, his robe whooshing behind him. He let his thoughts wander as he ran, and he didn't realize that a short girl was in front of him.
With a sickening thud, the girl fell to the ground. Not because he had run into her. No, he would never run into Hannah Abbott. But because someone had tripped her.
Neville couldn't help but notice the blonde hair of a certain Draco Malfoy as the green-lined robes disappeared down the corridor. He scoffed, and almost spit in the Slytherin's direction. However, he held it back.
Neville bent down and offered his hand, the other shakily picking up the female's books. When they had both stood up, he realized she was at least a head shorter than he was. Hannah muttered a small thanks before trying to set off again.
His heart pounding in his chest, Neville grabbed the Hufflepuff's arm lightly, though so much so she couldn't run away. "Hannah, don't be so quick t-to run away…" Neville! He scolded himself. It's just a girl! Stop stuttering!
Yeah. Just the girl you've secretly had a crush on since third year.
With a newfound determination, he continued, "Hannah, I was wondering…" Hannah turned to face him, and he let go of her arm, knowing that she wouldn't leave him now.
"Yes?" She asked, so innocently, it almost made him choke.
"I was wondering… Would you like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" He hadn't planned on doing this, he really hadn't. But the time just felt right for some reason. He had absolutely no idea why. And now he felt a bit like a fool.
Her cheeks slowly turned a shade of red Neville had never seen before, and she covered her mouth with her hand for a minute. After what seemed like an eternity, she removed her hand and nodded slowly. "I-I'd really enjoy that, Neville."
Doing a mental fistpump, Neville nodded the slightest. Beat that, Gran! Bless her soul, his gran. Ut she needed to believe in him more.
With a smile, Hannah walked back, closer to Neville, giving him a dazzling smile. It threw him off guard. There was only one other time he had seen Hannah smile- and it was in that moment that he knew that his thoughts of Luna were just that- thoughts. He had turned his fantasy of Hannah into a real-life time. One that he would enjoy to the fullest.
They began walking to Herbology together, his arm around her shoulders, and a triumphant smile on his face.
