Welcome to the competition, good luck...

Prologue: The Contest

All throughout the house, all was quiet. Nothing stirred, not even a mouse. Literally, not even a mouse, any mice that would have been there were scared out by the not too uncommon explosions that sometimes happened just outside this very house. And then, all of a sudden, just as the quiet reached its peak, the front door opened, and in came a teenage girl wearing a backpack, carrying some envelopes and magazines.

"Mom, I'm home!" Yelled the curly redhead, "Mail's here too!"

Upon hearing nothing, she set her backpack on a chair and shrugged, "Well, more for me."

And with that, she picked up the mail and sorted through it.

"Junk, junk, bill, bill, junk, huh, what's this?" She eyeballed the back of a magazine, which showed an advertisement for a reality show. It featured a paintball gun across it and the name of the show, "The Deadliest Shot". The words 'ages 16-18 only' appeared below it in smaller print, and a sentence with a challenge in it below that. 'Think you got what it takes?' the challenge said, 'go to .com to sign up. Maybe you too, can be the deadliest shot'.

"Interesting," She said, "Maybe I should try out for this."

And, with that, she went upstairs to her room to do just that.

A week later, while her mother was making dinner and she was watching TV, the door bell rang.

"Izzy, could you get that please?" Her mom called from the kitchen.

"Alright, I'll get it Mom!" Turning off the TV, Izzy got up, walked to the door and opened it.

But there was no one there. Looking down at the door step, she saw an envelope on it, and with her name on it! She picked it up and walked back to her seat on the couch.

"Who was it Izzy?" Her mom asked.

"Nobody Mom, just a letter," Izzy replied. She stared at it for a moment before opening it up. Inside the envelope was a message and small card with an e-mail address on it. The message inside said clearly, in big bold print, "Congratulations!" She opened up the message further to read all of it.

She looked at envelope one more time to make sure it wasn't fake, smiled, and headed up to her room to write an e-mail.
