Summary: When Yasmin wakes up in the night, Christian and Syed know something is wrong.

It's a quiet sob, not the usual cry - that's what wakes them up.
She's a bundle of whining, sniffling heat when Syed settles her into their bed; she's held against him, carefully, like a precious glass sculpture. As Christian leans in to rub her back, she reaches out a pudgy hand; stretched out, grasping until she finds his finger, clenching tightly around it and refusing to let go.
Yasmin falls asleep before they do. They take turns to watch her.
They're shattered by morning. But then Yasmin wakes up. And she smiles.
And it's not too bad after all.
