Corrupted
Corrupted
Itachi knew. He knew with every shard of himself. It comes with being a genius. Itachi knew that he would never be happy. He would never die in peace, but by the hands of his love. No one knew of the desire he had for his shoutei. Ever since his apparent betrayal, everyone feared him. They isolated him and made him fear. What man fears isolation? Why, all do. And here the one who desires to be left alone craves human companionship. What can he do, being condemned to treachery to maintain the peace in the village he so much loved. Why should he suffer for others? His only brother, the one he couldn't bring himself to slaughter, was the one who hated him the most. That simple fact agonized his world. Instead of ending his own life, he gave his brother a goal to become strong. To keep from sobbing, he wears that winter mask. If only they can see what he truly is, not like they judge him now. If only his brother knew how much he loved him. What's done is done. The path, he chose himself. Now he must live up to the monster he painted. Unfortunately, he didn't anticipate Sasuke's infidelity. What a foolish act, selling himself away. Just a slave to that treacherous nectar. Power corrupts even the geniuses. The Uchiha are the prime example of that. And yet, they are the most foolish. His father ruined everything. Even though, Itachi waited long enough for his brother to come back. The killer Orochimaru bred was not his brother. He was simply one who wore his mask. He could not stand his gray heart anymore. His shoutei will live for himself, Itachi had had enough.
As Sasuke stared blankly at the simple gravestone, he remembered his aniki. What a complex man. He did not desire power, but hated war. So many lessons could have been learned if Sasuke simply opened his eyes. Itachi was trying to teach him from the start, to leave him uncorrupted, but it was far too late for Sasuke had walked the path meant for his aniki.
