I don't own anything! Just an imagination! I swear!
…
Hermione jumped slightly as Ron walked through the door.
It's just Ron, she thought, it isn't anything like from that book. It's just Ron.
"Hey," Ron said after plopping down on the couch. Hermione flinched slightly.
"Hi," Hermione replied, her voice shaking slightly. She glanced over at her husband and sighed. The look on his face made her want to hide away the fact she had been reading a horror novel.
"What's wrong?" Ron asked, scooting closer to her.
Hermione made a failed attempt to smile. "Nothing," she answered, her voice betraying her.
Ron gave her a stern look. "Don't lie. You're shaking like a leaf. What happened?"
Hermione began to cry. "I r-r-read that b-book that J-Jane r-recommended to me," she started, her voice shaking as she began to sob. "I-I d-d-didn't r-realize th-that it w-was a horror story." Sobs began to shake through her body. "I-I w-w-woudn't h-have r-r-read it if – if I kn-knew it w-was a horror story."
Hermione began to cry harder and sob louder. Years ago, back during long nights in the common room spent with Ron because Harry was at Quidditch practice, Hermione and Ron had discovered that horror stories weren't the best thing for her to read. She had screamed after reading a particularly gory scene and it had taken Ron a long time to calm her down. Today was no different.
Ron pulled the shaken up woman into his arms and held her as tightly as he could while still being gentle. He stroked Hermione's hair as she cried into his robes. He didn't like seeing her so shaken up. It reminded him of the war.
Hermione was saying stuff about the book while she sobbed, but it was unintelligible and Ron didn't understand much. He learned that when you have an imagination as big as Hermione's, you shouldn't read things that would scare you. She cried for a few more minutes before calming down.
"Better?" Ron asked, brushing some wet hair back from her face.
Hermione nodded. "Much better," she said, small smile on her face. She curled up next to Ron before saying, "I'm still a bit shaken up, but I feel better knowing that you're here."
Ron looked down at her, surprised with what she said. Alas, she was sound asleep and peaceful. Ron smiled, before picking her up and putting her in their bed. He took off his robes and his shoes before lying down next to her, glad that he could make her feel safe and sound.
