"Rin, be still."
The not-so-little-girl stopped in her tracks, and turned to her lord, tilting her head to a side and looking at him curiously. Usually when Sesshoumaru-sama did this, it was because he sensed danger. But in a forest like this, how could there be any danger? Her innocent wide pools of chocolate brown swept the scenery once more. Huge oak trees towered over them, shading them from the sweltering sun, but always letting a little light filter down upon them, spotting the ground with green light. Birds and squirrels flew from one branch to another about them, and some even were brave enough to come and perch on Rin's hand. But that wasn't surprising, for Rin had the sweetest voice, just like a birds'.
"Rin, you may move now." That meant that danger had passed. The girl let go of her pose and sighed with relief. Sesshoumaru walked on without a backward glance at the girl, but something worried him. He had smelled that scent before, for the past few days in fact, and it was beginning to bother him. He didn't like the fact that he was being stalked. But then again, the person could be stalking Rin. Many admirers came from just about anywhere to get a glimpse of this girl. Rumor had been going around that she was the prettiest girl in all of Japan. 'Well, any body would hardly disagree,' he thought. And he was right. Rin had a slender waist and full hips. She had beautiful long ebony hair that ran down her back and shimmered like a waterfall. Her mouth was like a rose petal. But the most amazing thing about her was her eyes. Those eyes were like chocolate syrup, warm and innocent. Sesshoumaru blinked and mentally slapped himself. He shouldn't be thinking these thoughts anyway, not that he cared of the girl, he just didn't like the feeling of a person stalking them. Usually he would've just killed them by now, but the always managed to slip away.
"Master!" cried a shrilly little voice.
"What now Jaken."
"That disgusting human girl is not with us anymore!"
Sesshoumaru stopped walking. "What did you say?" he growled.
He heard a gulp. "T-the human g-girl is n-n-not with us..."
Sesshoumaru turned back and looked. Sure enough, no one was there. Masking his worry with impatience, he said, "Go find her Jaken, and when you do, be sure to scold her for holding us back." The little toad nodded and set off.
And Sesshoumaru waited, and waited. He sat there until it was dark, ready to punish Jaken for being so late. Perhaps Jaken had decided to escape and never come back. But thought was soon deleted from his mind, for he smelled that toad's disgusting scent, mixed with a flower scent that Rin always carried around with her, and another scent...Rin's blood...Dread fell upon him, and without noticing what he was doing, he ran toward them.
