Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, nor do I claim to. JKR is amazing and I wouldn't even dream of taking credit for her work!

A/N: This is a short oneshot I wrote about what Harry was feeling during the Deathly Hallows chapter, Into the Forest Again. This used to be a oneshot to Sacred by Tokio Hotel, but I decided to change it.

Harry walked along the long, winding path towards the Dark Forest. He knew it was almost time. He swallowed hard, wiping his trembling hands on his bloody and dirt covered jeans. He passed several people, none of them seeing through the Cloak of Invisibility wrapped tightly around him. That's when he saw her.

Ginny was leaving over a fallen member of their side. She was murmuring words of comfort to the figure that almost made Harry break down. He felt a suffocating feeling deep inside him as he watched her. He wanted to reach out to her, to say goodbye, but he knew not to. If he went to her, he would never have the strength to go on.

He loved her so much. Harry swallowed the lump that formed in his throat. This was it; he would never see her again.

He wanted her to know he was there, somehow. He wanted her to know she wasn't alone and that his thoughts were about her. He just wanted to tell her that his heart was hers, and how much he loved and cared for her. He felt like crying, sobbing, anything. He wanted to hold her in his arms once more. But that wasn't an option. He had to die. Just like his mother had died to protect him, he had to protect Ginny. Harry took one last, long look at her and turned to walk away down the path.

Harry stopped just inside the edge of the Dark Forest and brought the Golden Snitch to his lips.

'I open at the close'

This was the close; the end. His parents, Sirius, and Remus were suddenly there, offering words of comfort and support. He knew he could do it. It was well worth it if he was saving those who he cared the most about.

Harry walked the rugged trail of the Dark Forest. He reached a clearing where people were gathered, waiting. Death Eaters and their leader. Harry slipped his cloak into his pocket. He walked out into the clearing. He looked into those eyes full of evil and spread out his arms, wide, like a bird. His last thought was of Ginny; her hair, her face, her comforting, chocolate brown eyes…

Voldemort tilted his head, examining his prey, before he aimed his wand at Harry's outstretched, surrendered body. Harry squeezed his eyes shut, waiting. He could do it. One more second, and it would be over and they would all be protected. Ginny's face flashed into his mind, and he felt immense power surge through him. He could do anything; the present was just a steppingstone that would lead to so much more.

Those infamous words left Voldemort's lips. Harry was ready for the contact of the spell. His life seemed like a blur; it all went so fast. As the spell made its contact, he last thought of his friends, how they would all be safe. They were all going to be okay.

He couldn't lose another person to Voldemort's wrath. This would end it all, and they would be protected. His friends were sacred to him.

Fin.
