The Normandy.
Pride of the Alliance, the most technologically advanced ship of the time.
And you were assigned to be the Executive Officer.
Needless to say, you were more than a bit nervous.
People were chattering, looking entirely at ease as you stood here rigidly, trying to figure out what to do. You had received no orders, and didn't know where to find Captain Anderson to ask what to do.
You were pulled out of your thoughts by a voice.
"Commander Shepard?"
You found the source almost immediately.
A girl stood in front of you, glossy black hair tied back in a low ponytail.
The girl continued, "I'm under orders from Captain Anderson to show you around. So, just call me Ensign Kokoro, your personal tour guide."
For a moment, you said nothing, taken aback, and her smile drooped a bit as she asked, "Was I out of line Commander?"
"Ah… No, I … no, you're fine. I'm just feeling a little lost, you replied, regaining your voice.
She smiled, "the Normandy can take some getting used to. It becomes second nature shortly. Now, let's start here, shall we?"
She waved her hand to the side, "this here's the map. Not much to is, but it's a real fancy one, so I thought I'd point it out."
She continues, "most of the private communication is done in that room behind it. I'm a lowly ensign, so that's forbidden territory for me, but not to you Commander."
She motions, and begins to walk through a door near the side, nodding to a man in uniform who in turn saluted you.
She goes on, showing you the med bay, ("Dr. Chakwas is usually in here, so whether you scrape your knee or lose a limb, chances are she'll be here to patch you up") pointing out the room on the left, ("That's where Captain Anderson can be found most of the time") and your locker, ("Oh, before I forget. This is your personal equipment locker. This is for…er, equipment.") before returning to the center of the room.
She motioned to the elevator. "There's the elevator to the garage and the engine room. I'd show it to you, but its not really my area. Right now we're in the mess," she said, "I'm assigned here. Is there anything else you need to know?"
"What's that in the middle?" you asked.
"You'll be sleeping there. Pods. Reeeal comfy, right?" she laughed, "but don't worry. They're not so bad. They just take some getting used to."
A voice is heard now, presumably over the intercom.
He seems to be announcing the arrival into a system.
"Who's that?" you asked.
"Him? Oh, that's Joker. He's the ship's pilot. He'll make announcements, or comments, every once in a while. Keeps us informed. He—oh, hold on," she paused, stretching a hand up to her ear. She looked like she was listening intently, responding o whatever she was hearing, "yes… mmhm…yes, I'll pass that on." She looked up, "Captain wants you on the bridge."
At your confusion, she pointed to the stairs to the sides of the elevator. "Go back up to where you were, and continue on past the rows of ship controls. There's only one way there."
You nodded, now feeling much less bewildered, and even a bit of optimism. This was much less daunting than it had originally appeared.
What could the Captain want? To give you your orders?
Oh well; only one way to find out.
-.-.-
(A/N) I make you sound weak. There is a point to that, though. Think about it; you've just been assigned aboard the flagship of the Alliance for a sketchy mission that you supposedly don't know about. I mean, in the beginning of the game you run around asking everyone what's going on and where everything is. I thought I'd cut out a bit of that now. ^^
Was this any good?
