Cinderella Chapter 2

Once upon a time, there was a handsome couple living out their wildest dreams.

You may recognize their story. She was Cinderella and he was the handsome prince.

They were deeply in love and very happily married. Everything was perfect, well almost.

A baby, the one thing that would complete their lives, continued to elude them. Every

twenty-eight days Cinderella's monthly flow accompanied a torrential flow of tears, and

days of depression.

Meanwhile her two ugly step-sisters who had married commoners were having babies

one right after the other. Cinderella always sent gifts and visited her nieces and nephews,

but the pain it caused her was excruciating.

One day Cinderella's step-sister, Drusilla stopped by the palace with an interesting

offer. She would, if all agreed, sleep with her brother- in- law, the prince. If she became

pregnant she would carry the child and give it up upon its birth. Of course, she would

require a very high price for this service. Not only did she want to move into the palace,

she would bring the rest of the family too! Her mother, the other step-sister, their children

and husbands would all descend upon the palace to shatter the peaceful life Cinderella

and her husband now lived.

Cinderella considered the bickering conversations of her step- family, the rude and

conniving ways of the two sisters and shuddered. Well, the palace is rather huge. She

would think about it. She was not keen on having anyone else sleep with her husband, but

a baby, her very own baby. How she wished for her fairy godmother to appear and advise

her on all these matters. Could she trust Drusilla? Would her husband agree? Could they

all live in the palace and get along?

A few more months went by as Cinderella considered this offer. She had talked it

over with the prince and he was against the plan. He wanted their baby without

any strings attached. Drusilla was demanding an answer and packing her house up in

anticipation of moving into the south wing of the palace. Cinderella's brow creased as

she looked at her calendar. She felt a little odd this morning, queasy and not herself at all.

After her usual breakfast, Cinderella bolted to her private chamber to lose the small

bite she had eaten, she thought could this be? She flew to the calendar again and counted

the days. She was late! She tenderly pressed her hand to her still flat tummy and smiled.

She and the prince would not need the services of her bitter step- sister. A royal baby was

on the way. She could not wait to tell her prince charming the news!
