— Longing —
Eternally ethereal.
The sublimity of his surroundings scared him.
He was floating. Floating in deep darkness, surrounded by insubstantial existences.
He couldn't feel himself.
He couldn't feel anything.
He melted in the darkness so well that he was unsure of his own existence. He was doubtful of his reality, reality that was in itself a huge contradiction, a question that was unanswered.
What was reality to him?
A mind without a body. A soul without a body.
Floating away in darkness. Melting away in darkness.
Purposelessness.
Dangling fear that constricted his throat. A throat that was mere imagination. Or was it his reality? A reality of feelings without sense. Sense of touch, sense of sight and every other sense.
There was something that kept him from letting go.
The constrictions on his throat tightened with every passing moment, but he wouldn't let go of the something that kept him bound. He wouldn't. He couldn't. He was bound to his fate. Bound to a baseless reality.
How he wished he could melt away for eternity. Drown in the endless darkness, never to resurface.
How was he to face eternal darkness?
The answer appears in the form of eyes that are ever-smiling.
A dainty face.
A girl. Alive.
With her she brings a flurry of emotions.
A warmth.
A longing.
With her she brings little dots of light. Green and white, floating all around, dissolving the darkness little by little.
He sees her clearly.
He sees himself clearly. His pale hands, his black coat. His faint existence.
She smiles, he smiles.
She loses her way, he points the way out.
His reality changes.
His existence has been given a purpose.
An existence that was reality in a different world.
Light was flooding the darkness he existed in. It illuminated every corner.
It illuminated his heart and he longed for it.
Longed for the light to reappear when he was once again engulfed in darkness.
Longed for those little dots of greenish white light to reappear that she brought with her arrival.
He longed for the light that illuminated his existence.
He longed for her.
