Paul's POV
I was walking into Sally's house to visit her when I heard a large crash.
Then, Sally yelled, "Percy! No deadly weapons in the house!"
What the heck? Deadly weapons?
I peeked around the corner to see Sally looking up the stairs and Percy coming down with a sheepish look on his face and a pen in hand.
"Sorry, Mom!" Percy exclaimed.
"I thought I told you not to work with that in the house!" Sally gave him a stern look and Percy looked down, embarrassed.
Wait, the pen was the deadly weapon?
"Sally, honestly… A pen as a deadly weapon?" I asked, my eyebrows rising. Percy laughed nervously and Sally turned around with a smile and peck on the cheek for me.
"For Percy, it is," she explained with a bigger smile. Percy rolled his eyes and came all the way downstairs, capping his "deadly weapon".
We all chatted pleasantly for a few hours like we normally do before Sally stood up. "Oh, Paul, I have something for you upstairs. Come on up."
Percy and I both followed. As we reached the top of the stairs, I stopped in shock. A few feet from the stairs, a painting had fallen to the floor – the crash I heard when I walked in – and it was sliced in half. There was also a large groove in the wall where the painting had once hung.
I looked at Percy, then Sally, then back at the wall and shook my head.
Okay, maybe for Percy a pen is a deadly weapon…
A/N: I'm not quite sure what my brain was thinking… Thanks for reading!
EDIT: Some of you have been asking, so here is the quote! "Besides, my mom had made me promise not to use deadly weapons in the apartment after I'd swung a javelin the wrong way and taken out her china cabinet." – The Sea of Monsters, page 4
Yes, I know that Percy isn't working with a javelin here, nor is he knocking out a china cabinet, but I figure it took a while for the message to sink in for Percy!
