Untouchable Thoughts II
Jack's (pleasing) thoughts were broken into when somebody entered the hub. A voice echoed through, "Sorry, it's only me – I forgot my keys and I don't want to disturb Rhys more than I hav-"
Jack almost ran towards her, making her rethink.
"Jack? Are you oka-"
But she never got to complete her sentence, as her boss, Captain Jack Harkness, put his hands on her, one on her left hip, the other on her right cheek, and kissed her. It was a lingering kiss as he held back. This was wrong, and he knew it, but it was too enjoyable for him to force himself to stop. Gwen started to melt into the embrace and respond, but then pulled away, shocked. She took a step back and slapped him.
"What the bloody hell do you think you're doing Jack?"
"Gwen, I-" he thought for a second, trying to formulate an explanation. "Gwen, I'm completely mad about you. Every time I see you, I get a warm feeling, and it's been all could do not to kiss you there and then."
"Okay… What about Ianto? Your hot little rooms and games of hide and seek?"
"Replacement. I was trying to convince myself that I liked Ianto, and that there were no feelings inside me relating to you, other than professional ones."
"It looked pretty realistic to me."
"Ye-ah. It was, but only because I was thinking of you. That's really crap and clichéd, but I swear, it's true. Gwen, you may not believe it, or not want to, or just hate me because of it, and your relationship with Rhys; but I love you, so much."
He stood still, Gwen trying to comprehend this, and then standing still, looking at Jack and thinking. Jack couldn't read anything from her expression, and waited.
"Gwen, slap me again, yell at me, shoot me, anything, just don't stand there silent. Please?"
Her eyes flicked to his briefly before returning to the floor, still thinking. Jack was about to go and hide from her in shame and self-hatred, when she moved. Gwen had opened her mouth, ready to say something, when she shut it again. Jack waited a little longer, trying to divert his mind onto other thought topics, such as how to disarm people quickly without dying.
Suddenly, Gwen stepped forward, put her arms around his neck, standing as close to him as possible.
"You know what? I've been waiting for you to do that for a long time."
And they kissed, tentatively at first, but getting more and more confident as the minute passed. They forgot the CCTV cameras in the hub, and did not bother to move, content with exploring each other where they were.
