Whelps, here's yet another story. This time it's a fem!Marco story exploring well, Marco's backstory. Why fem? Because if I do continue writing this and end up at Marineford, it'll be nice to have Ace survive. And since he didn't survive when Marco was a male, I can imagine that a female Marco would mean that Ace would have survived.
Fire burned around her.
Bluish tongues of flames surrounded her naked form, the fire embracing her gently, it's scorching heat doing nothing more than sooth her aching body.
In the background, cries of agony filled the air as people struggled to escape the burning hell that they were trapped in.
Pushing herself to her feet, she stumbled, grabbing onto the pieces of rubble around her as she tried to steady herself.
What… What had happened?
Looking around her, she saw corpses lying on the ground, their bodies ripped apart and left to burn. Their open eyes stared accusingly at her even as the fire consumed their corpses, the smell of burning meat sending bile up her throat.
"Monster." A man spat from behind her.
Whirling around, she eyed the swaying form of the man behind her.
His narrowed eyes reflected the fires around them, the hatred in his gaze sending her reeling backwards. Dragging himself forward, he reached behind him, pulling out a dagger.
"If I kill you now, I'll avenge everyone!"
A maniacal smile formed on his face, his eyes opened wide with glee as he lunged towards her. Anger, or maybe insanity giving him the strength to push past his injuries to attack her.
Standing still, she watched numbly as the dagger ripped into her skin.
Was this the end of her?
In front of her, the man collapsed to the ground, unmoving.
Yet, she remained standing, her wound slowly knitting itself back together as blue flames danced around it.
Closing her eyes, she exhaled.
Feathers pushed through her skin while her body changed, legs becoming talons and arms becoming wings.
When she next opened her eyes, everything had changed.
No longer was she human, but rather, she was now a bird.
Flapping her wings, she took off into the sky where she proceeded to survey the lands below.
It was nothing but a scene from the darkest of nightmares. Houses lay in ruins, rubble covering the streets. Fire burned everywhere, not a single place was left untouched. The ear-piercing screams had died down, leaving nothing but silence in their wake. In the island below her, not a single life could be felt. Everyone was dead.
Everyone but her.
She shrieked, pouring all her anguish into her cries.
This had to be her fault right? If not, why would that man call her a monster?
Turning away from the island, she flew and flew and flew and flew and flew and flew and flew and flew and flew…
She didn't care where she was going as long as she didn't have to see that nightmarish scene.
Eventually, her wings sore from the strain, she was forced to land. Perching on a tree, she transformed back into a human.
"... Who am I?"
She breathed out, her breath coming out as a cloud before dissipating into the night breeze. Examining her fingers, she pulled at the pendent that dangled from her neck. How did she not notice this before? Staring down at the dull metal, she rubbed off the soot, tilting her head slightly as she felt her fingers catch on faint lines in the metal.
Marco.
"Marco huh…" She mouthed out the name, her name reverently, enjoying the way the words formed in her mouth.
"I am Marco."
Please reviewing everyone! I thrive on reviews, favourites and follows! Also, I'm not quite sure if I'm going to continue this or leave it like this...
