Without You
Without you, I'm like an empty shell
Everyday is a living Hell
And the nights, pure agony.
I cannot sleep; I toss and turn
Dreaming desperately of your return
Which, I know, will never be.
I've cried so much, I'm out of tears
Days stretch on as long as years
When you aren't here with me.
Nothing makes my smile anymore –
Not the things that made me laugh before
Sodden in your memory.
I feel like I am falling apart
My lungs are gone, my heart won't start
My head feels about to burst.
Thoughts of you cause stabbing pain
I can't even bear to hear your name
Yet, forgetting would be worse.
Although I tried my very best
I could not grant your last request
That you wanted me to do.
To live as if you'd never been –
But how could I have done that when
There is no life without you?
