It's a sunny day and the passengers are waiting to board the RMS Titanic, the ship that will carry them to the New World.
Between the people, a car stops and a young girl, Maria, opens the door and jumps out of it, followed by her siblings. The Portlys –William, Hector, Sophia and Maria- came from Italy to England, where their father was born.
"What a beautiful ship" said her looking at the craft.
"They call it The Ship of Dreams" answered her elder brother, William, with a smile.
"And so it is, it's unsinkable too" added Hector behind them.
A young man arrived to them with his wife. They were Sophia Portly and Robert Clifford.
"There it is, my love" said him to his girl, lovely.
A man walked quickly to the ship.
"Sbrigati, Paolo!" told him to the man who was behind him "We'll be late!"
That man was Mario Sandrini, a stoker in the Titanic, and the one who was behind him was his brother, Paolo, who was a First Class Steward.
A skinny blonde girl, Constance Northwood, arrived where the Portlys were. Her siblings, Ralph and Elinor, and Robert Clifford's young sister, Caroline, were with her.
"It's great to see familiar faces here" said her with a happy smile.
"It's amazing" answered Sophia "I'm so glad we chose the Titanic"
"Stay close to me, Sophia" said her husband, taking her arm, gently.
"Sto arrivando!" answered Paolo to his brother "There are so many crowds!"
William answered to the Northwoods with a gently smile when Katalina and Elijah Willot, joined them.
"Good day to you all" said her with a smile "How wonderful to encounter you"
"Good day to you two" answered Constance, with a similar smile.
"I do hope you're in good health... What brings you to journey to New York?" replied Katalina.
A young boy, Gale Walace, not too far from them, looked back with a smile to his best friend, Emily Fletcher, who was behind him, walking quickly.
"Hurry up, little! This is our day!" said him with a grin.
"My legs aren't like your legs... I'm smaller than you!" answered her. Ran where Gale was and observed the ship. "Wow... It's enormous!" laughed them.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Flet?" he looked to his friend's light blue eyes.
"I have no option..." she looked to the ground, remembering her family "We need the money, and Violet needs to pay the hospital..."
Gale embraced her kindly. He didn't want to see Emily sad.
"Eh, eh... I don't want to see you like now. Just think that she'll be better when we return, okay?" she smiled to him, cheerful "Good girl" whispered him at her ear "Now, let's go..." she continued smiling and followed him.
"I heard the Batleys shall be joining us..." said Elijah Willot.
"The Batleys? How unusual; I would expect Mr John Batley to be busy with work at the bank" added Katalina, his sister "His wife...is the most oddest woman I have ever met. Although she is very interesting in many ways! I look forward to seeing her. What was her name? Ah yes! Muriel."
