The Thirst
Lightning strikes
A stab of pain against my heart
Rain pours
The tears down my face
A car driving
Along a lonesome shallow road
The headlights are out
Moon behind clouds
The road closes in
All but nothing is left
Its nights like these
I sit in bed a dusty doll on a shelf
Its nights like these
I realize what the world really is
Its nights like this the mask comes off
All that prevails is my thirst for real love
Thunder pounds my ears
In rhythm with my heart
Hands reach out
But fading away
Don't ever let go
But I'm already falling away
Candles lit
Lights blazing alike
Feeling of dark still deep inside
Still can't find
The one-way road
Its nights like these
I finally realize
The real love is not lost but waiting….
Waiting safe in the light
For when I open my eyes
