I've decided I'm focusing solely on Jamie and Caitie in this story ^_^ I'll save the others for later. Also, longer chapters...I think I'll have it finished pretty soon. And as for the confusion...I hope I clear it up in this chapter! ^_^

Don't own, just love!

Visions - Part 2
By Mei

-Jamie-

"Blind?"

My mind shattered from the shocking news. Caitie...blind? Caitie without her vision was like a bird without wings, a pen without ink, a book without words. In the future, she wouldn't be able to move anywhere without help, protect herself, or even see the thrilling beauty of the world above and around her would be lost.

She'd never see the love on my face.

"But wait...Caitie could see me before." I remembered the scene vividly. "I know she could. Her eyes met mine and we talked! The only thing was that she didn't know who I was..."

Doctor Matthews gave me a comforting smile, one that all capable doctors seemed to share unanimously. "That could be considered the good news."

"What is it?"

"Well, first of all, her hearing is fine. The impact of the accident probably caused the reason she could not distinguish your voice. And...she's not completely blind. That's the reason she could slightly see you."

"Not completely blind...what?"

"Caitie has face blindness. It's a rare affliction, but in this type of injury it is possible. The impact on her head has given her some brain damage, and since the vision system relies heavily on her mind, she can no longer see the details of anyone's face. All she will need to do is gradually learn the colorings of

It was unbearable...I wanted to carry Caitie out of the hospital myself. But then again, she wouldn't know who I am. I am a stranger to my best friend.

"Can I see her?"

-Caitie-

I woke up gradually, surrounded by shiny medical instruments and obviously in a hospital bed.

A major headache doesn't begin to describe the pounding of my head. It felt like a troop of soldiers were practicing their morning march in the deepest corners of my brain. The door opened just then, and I tried to make out who it was in the blinding light.

"Caitie!"

He ran over to my side and intertwined his hands with mine.

"Caitie...it's me, Jamie!" His light cheery voice moved me... I hadn't heard him this merry in a while. Or this fake.

I giggled in spite of myself. His attitude just seemed so unusual. "Jamie? Really? You sure look different." All I could see was a gathering of dots flying all over the place. There were some black dots, others were pale crème, and some were light brown. I tried to focus my sight on him, but it didn't work.

"Why am I here? Why? What's the matter?" I looked at him intently.

"Why are any of us here?" Jamie began.

"Spill, Jamie."

"You have face blindness, Caitie."

"As in..." I looked up expectantly. "Please don't pace, Jamie, it's hard enough to see you as it is."

"Okay." He stopped in mid-stride. "You won't be able to see me for a while, Caitie. Any of us. Something to do with your brain malfunctioning for your eyes. I'm sorry, Caitie."

"Face blindness." The tears that welled in my eyes would not escape. This involuntary shaking would stop. The cold had to vanish. But I just had to ask. "Is it forever?"

"No. No, not forever. I won't let it be forever."

^_^ I know it's short again, but I wanted to clear stuff up before New Year's. And face blindness is a real illness. :( I'm being very unfair to Caitie...missing out on Jamie's face...

My NY's resolution is to write better ^_^ Or at least longer. Sayonara and happy New Year!!!
