Author's Note: 100-word drabble written for Anime Detour's Iron Pen Drabble Contest in 2014. Prompt item was a framed photograph of four standing tree trunks with red ribbons tied with bows around them.
Seto Kaiba did not venture often to this part of the mansion grounds.
His brother had come to this wooded corner every Sunday afternoon. He spent an hour outside and returned to the mansion without a word.
Today, Seto followed him.
"Oh, Nii-sama!" Mokuba knelt before four ash trees. On each trunk was a bright red ribbon tied in a bow.
"Why?"
"One for each of us. Mother, father, you, and me. Here, we are all together."
Seto looked at the trees. They stood like sentinels in the stark winter forest.
He wept for the first time in twelve years.
