Let yourself fall, Let yourself go

Noah held onto her as she got sick in the bush. She had taken his bike again. To the pub. It wasn't hard to find her this time.

She gave one last cough and leant back onto his chest. He brushed the hair from her face. It had been his fault this time; he had hurt her, told her nothing was between them. He had lied to her but even worse, he had lied to himself. And now she had escaped off into the world, the one that she had once allowed him into. He only hoped that she would let him into it again.

"Noah"? She whispered tiredly

"I'm here" he soothed now rubbing her back

She was vulnerable, incredibly so. But she was so strong willed that when she fell she didn't let herself stay there, she always got back up again. This frustrated Noah so much. She wouldn't let herself feel the pain emotionally; she needed to let herself heal emotionally. Not just physically.

Just lay it all down. Put your face into my neck and let it fall out.

I know

I know

I know.

I knew before you got home.

This world you're in now,

It doesn't have to be alone,

"Don't leave me" she begged

"I won't" he turned her around and she rested her head on his shoulder, her ragged breathing touching his neck.

"You don't have to do this alone" he whispered as her breathing returned to its normality

He wrapped her jacket more tightly around her. He couldn't let himself stuff up this time. He had to get it right. She had given him another chance. He had to tread even more carefully than he had before. He couldn't just tell her how to fight it, this time he had to fight it with her, they both had to fight it, they both had to overcome it.

I'll get there somehow, 'cos

I know I know I know

When, even springtime feels cold.

But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see,

So we can both be there and we can both share the dark.

And in our honesty, together we will rise,

Out of our nightminds, and into the light

At the end of the fight...

But she had known that all along. He found himself wishing silently that he could see everything the way she saw it. In her world it was much simpler. She knew she had a problem and she knew deep down she couldn't do it alone. She needed him and he needed her. He knew she needed him, but he didn't know he needed her. She knew that they could heal each other and now he did too. They were a team, they could let go of all the hurt together. She had to let herself fall and he had to let go of the shadow of drinking that was hanging over him and had to let himself love her.

You were blessed by a different kind of inner view: it's all magnified.

The highs would make you fly, and the lows make you want to die.

And I was once there, hanging from that very ledge where you are standing.

So I know

I know

I know,

It's easier to let go.

But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see,

So we can both be there and we can both share the dark.

And in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds

And into the light at the end of the fight.

A tear landed on his shoulder and Kit lifted her head. Her eyes begging with his. He nodded and she wrapped her arms around him and his around her.

As the sun rose, she let herself fall and he let himself go.

...and in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds

And into the light... at the end of the fight...
