A/N: I regret nothing! I also don't own [Prototype]! Only the little creature!

Sudden Movements

"Get the little fucker!" The military shot into the ocean, each of them trying to shoot a small creature that lived in the liquid. It continued to swim around, dodging their bullets and plunging deeper towards the bottom. Finally, they ceased their fire, surprising it. The creature slowly allowed itself to float back to the top, only to squeak out in surprise. A man now stood there, his body covered in blood as black and red tendrils slowly circled himself. He looked so familiar to the creature, though it couldn't exactly pinpoint where he had seen him. Slowly, the creature emerged from the water, breathing the chilly air that froze his blue fur. The man sat down, reaching his hand out towards the soaked thing, as if allowing it to either sniff his limb like normal animals would do, or just to show he wasn't a threat. Instead of either swimming away or actually being hesitant towards him, the creature grabbed onto the man's hand with its paws, pulling itself into his palm and sitting there. The man just chuckled, bringing his hand closer so they were face to face. The human had lighter blue eyes than the creature, who had a light color aqua.

"Friendly little guy, aren't ya?" the man spoke, admiring its fur. "What the hell are you, anyways? And why were those fuckers after you?"

The creature let out a soft chirping noise, seemingly smiling at the man.

"Pretty weird, but nothing to kill," he continued, grabbing its paw with his free hand. "Probably scared that you might carrying the Blacklight virus, but I know you're not. You're just a freaky little animal who seems to like water."

Once more, the creature let out a chirping sound, this time louder. The man just shook his head, lowering his hand back towards the water.

"I should just put you back," he said, mostly to himself than the animal. But, as he got closer to the water, the creature decided to crawl up the man's jacket sleeve, stopping at his shoulder where it decided to sit. The human gave it both a confused and surprised look, but just stood to full height, allowing the creature to lightly wrap its tail around his neck.

"You wanna stay with me, huh?" he questioned, watching as his new found friend nodded. "Alright, fine. I guess it won't be too bad. Just as long as I don't get in too much trouble with that damned military. I get really tired of their shit. Whatever. Just the fucked up city we live in, right?"

The creature chirped, as though agreeing with the man.

"Glad to see I'm not alone on the subject," he chuckled, walking down the street, stopped when the animal decided to crawl into his hood. "Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

It stuck its head down, ears flattened as it shivered a bit. Sighing, he nodded his head.

"Fine. You can stay in there. Just don't move around too much!" he growled, continuing his way down the street, the thing looking at the ocean as he did so. "Since you're gonna be staying with me, I'll have to give you name. How about..." The man looked towards the sea, a small smirk forming on his face. "Pacific? Since I found you there."

The chirping sound of approval rang in his ears as it nodded. He chuckled, reaching a hand up to scratch the animal's fluffy head.

"Glad you like it," he spoke, rounding a corner and stopping. "My name's Alex, just to let you know." The man jumped up and onto a building, running along to rooftop before jumping off and onto a nearby building. "Alex Mercer."
