Pink Rain Chapter 1- Naruto the jerk

Sakura walked through the halls, frustrated with her boyfriend Naruto. The servants scattered to the side as she swept by in her fancy kimono, a gift from the orange jerk. The servants knew by now that when Sakura was mad, you stayed out of her way.

She walked right out of the mansion's doors and into the large courtyard. In front of her was a marble fountain with some koi fish swimming in its waters. The gravel path forked, and Sakura took the path to her right. It led her into a grove of trees that surrounded a calm lake. She went off the path into a grove of willow trees. Sakura found what she was looking for- a stone bench built into a small hill leading down to the lake. Sakura discovered this secret hideaway her first fight with Naruto. She could spend days out her without anyone knowing. She'd done it before.

Sakura looked down at herself. Her kimono was mud-splattered and dirty. Behind the mud, she could still see the deep red fabric with cherry blossoms on it. The obi was a simple light pink tied with a gold sash and the hems of the sleeves were lined with gold thread. Sakura considered jumping in the lake for a while, just to spite Naruto. She was really pissed at him this time.

As Sakura sat, she thought about what had happened. Naruto announced that she was being sent to Sasuke's mansion on the east border of the Land of Fire. They said it was for her safety, but there was nothing to be safe from. The countries were at peace and the Akatsuki hadn't been seen in years.

On the day of his 17th birthday Naruto was named Hokage of the Leaf Village. He also inherited his father's mansion, due to a clause in the will that said Naruto could get his inheritance only when he became Hokage. Naruto invited Sakura to live with him, since her parents died when she was young, leaving her all alone. Sakura accepted.

She missed the days when team seven wasn't full of arguments and rich mansions. Things were much simpler back then and it was easier to be friends. Naruto brought Sasuke back to the village, both of them almost dead. She managed to save them, thanks to Tsunade's careful training. The three of them reunited and became even closer friends than before Sasuke left. Kakashi stuck around too, constantly going on missions with them.

However, Naruto couldn't go on missions anymore. He also had been giving Sakura less and less missions, in an attempt to keep her safe in Konoha. Well, thank you, but no. Sakura hated Naruto's new protective side. She had already proved herself to be stronger than the two of them, but apparently that didn't matter.

All the trouble began one year ago. Naruto started talking to Sakura's best friend, Hinata Hyuga, with no explanation to Sakura at all. He started to spend all his time with her, ignoring Sakura and avoiding her at the mansion. Sakura was shut out, completely in the dark. In her state of panic, she began to assume the worst.

But then it all came out, in a bad way. Sasuke had been in love with Hinata, and his goal was to get the two of them going out. But Hinata was so friendly that Naruto wanted to spend all his time with her instead of Sakura.

Then the announcement came- Hinata was engaged to Sasuke, by order of the Hyuga clan. The clan talked to Sasuke about the arrangement, and Sasuke was all too happy to agree. The wedding was going to be one of the biggest in Konoha because uniting the two clans was so important to the people. Sasuke was so happy, and that much closer to the girl of his dreams.

However, they didn't count on one problem. Hinata's secret lover, Subaku no Gaara. The day of the wedding, Sakura agreed to stall for Hinata to make a clean getaway to Suna. It worked well. Everyone thought Hinata had disappeared into thin air. But some damn servant girl saw Hinata and Gaara leaving. It soon spread, so Naruto went to Suna to get her back. At the sight of the happy couple, Naruto didn't have the heart to bring Hinata back.

When he returned alone, Sasuke disappeared up into a tower in the Uchiha mansion. He stayed there for days. Everyone thought he was dead. A few days later, he came down. But he never spoke Hinata's name again.

Sakura told Naruto she knew about Hinata and Gaara, but she was sworn to secrecy by her friend. Naruto tried to apologize before he found this out. Afterwards, he refused to talk to her for weeks. Sakura had no problem with this. If Naruto had told her in the first place about his brilliant plan, Sakura would have told him about Gaara. But in Naruto's mind, it was all Sakura's fault. He wanted a simple apology from her and it would all be over. Sakura refused. She didn't see the point and it wasn't her fault.

Slowly, they started to get over this. But something had changed. Naruto began to work more and more, while denying Sakura any missions. They stopped talking and sharing things with each other.

And now this...

Naruto didn't want her.

It was as simple as that.

And he didn't even have the balls to tell her to her face.

Well, who cares about that jerk? Sakura thought. I'll go to this stupid house and just come back when no one's looking.

She got up and went inside to her room, her mind made up. No one saw her come in, and frankly no one really cared.

Naruto was sitting at his desk in the Hokage's office. He felt a huge headache coming and his heart was heavy,

He heard a knock on the door. "Come in," Naruto said.

Sasuke walked in. Like Naruto, Sasuke also had a position of power in Konoha. He was the ANBU captain. Kakashi was with Sasuke. Naruto still trusted his old Sensei, even after all of these years. Kakashi was Naruto's advisor.

"Naruto, we need to talk," Sasuke said, sitting down in one of the chairs across from the Hokage. Kakashi also sat down without a word. "It's about Sakura. Naruto, it's not fair to send her away and not even give her a reason. You need to tell her what we're up against. Sakura has had experience with the Akatsuki too," Sasuke said.

"No. If Sakura finds out, she'll try to fight. I can't have that happen to her," Naruto said.

"The Akatsuki is coming. They will find out about you and Sakura, no matter how far you send her away. It's easier to tell her so she's prepared. That way they can't surprise her," Kakashi said.

"That's why I'm sending Sakura into hiding. The Akatsuki won't know where she is," Naruto explained.

"Sakura will try to run away and come back to fight," Sasuke said. "Naruto, you're hurting her by not telling her anything. She thinks that you want to send her away because you have been falling out, Naruto," Sasuke stood up and moved towards his friend. "Listen to us," he said.

"Kakashi, leave," Naruto said in a commanding voice. Sasuke still stood next to Naruto's desk. When Kakashi left, Naruto turned to Sasuke. "Stop Sasuke. It's not fair to Sakura," Naruto said. Sasuke sat on the edge of Naruto's desk.

"Why Naruto? Just tell Sakura the truth. Being lied to is hurting her," Sasuke said.

"Sasuke…" Naruto said before Sasuke's lips crashed down on his, taking his breath away. Naruto returned the kiss with equal energy, their tongues mixing together. For a few seconds Naruto was in heaven with his true feelings showing, not the fake ones he invented for Konoha.

Their happiness was short-lived.

"Naruto I need to talk to…" Sakura started to say as she opened the door. The sight of Naruto and Sasuke stopped her short.

"Yes Sakura?" Naruto asked with no emotion in his voice or face.

"What the hell!" Sakura yelled at him. "Is this why you're sending me away?" she demanded. Naruto didn't answer, he just glared at her. Sasuke refused to look at her. "Answer me!" she shrieked at him, grabbing his Hokage robes at the neck, ready to pummel his face into the wall. Naruto didn't say anything, he just glared at her.

Sakura's eyes welled up with tears. Her throat was closing and she couldn't talk. Sakura slowly let go of Naruto, the truth sinking in.

"It's all fake, isn't it?" she said, her voice hollow. "I'm just a trophy to show Konoha."

"You leave tomorrow. Go pack," Naruto commanded her with no emotion.

"Hai Hokage-sama," she said coldly, turning on her heel and leaving. She slammed the door on her way out, breaking the door off its hinges as she went.

"Now where were we?" Naruto asked.

Sakura jumped from tree to tree, her eyes tearing. The two ANBU with her stayed behind her to give her some sense of privacy.

She'd left that morning. Neither Naruto nor Sasuke had come to see her off or say goodbye. Kakashi came to greet her at the gate, but from the look on his face, Sakura guessed her knew about Naruto and Sasuke. Sakura didn't mention what happened.

Her escort traveled for most of the day, stopping only for a few short minutes. They continued to travel well into the night before finally setting up camp to rest.

They didn't know someone was following them.

Two dark figures were sitting in the trees, shrouded by nightfall. They were completely silent, so as not to alert the ANBU to their presence.

A girl with pink hair walked out of a tent. Both pairs of hidden eyes fixed directly on her. She talked and joked with the two ANBU as she ate. Once she was done, she went back into her tent. The ANBU soon followed into their tent.

"So that's her?" the taller of the two figures said. He had a huge sword on his back.

"Hn," the other said, not giving an answer. The taller one took this as a yes.

"When do we start?" he asked.

"Now," was the sound the tall one heard as Uchiha Itachi stepped out from the shadows.
