Chapter 1-Winners and Losers (No we don't own Inu Yasha) Hey guys, Um… sorry for this story. I was kinda in a depressed state. TTFN-Neptune

The sky is dark, and the land quiet. There is no moon in the sky and little light comes from the stars above.

Kagome quietly comes out of the hut. She walks towards the well; her gateway to the present. She dons a bow and arrow, one that has for four years served her well. She's quite skilled and is still improving. Naraku has been killed just recently as well.

Kikyou steps out of the darkness and towards the younger miko.

"We'll settle this once and for all reincarnation," says Kikyou with a special emphasis on reincarnation.

"With pleasure," says Kagome.

They both pull their bows out and the battle begins. Each is closely matched and each dodges the other's arrows.

"Inu Yasha…" Kagome chokes out. He notches the arrow in its place.

"Let her go," he yells.

"No! Inu Yasha, this way we can be together forever," says the priestess with a horrid smile. Inu Yasha lets the arrow fly and prays that it hits its mark. But it doesn't. Kikyou moves right on time, and the arrow hits Kagome's heart; his lover, his mate.

"Kagome," he cries out as he runs to her. He pulls the arrow out taking her in his arms. She's dead. His tears fall onto her milky face as anger fills his body; anger for Kikyou.

The priestess pulls up her bow and with a click notches an arrow. Without a word she lets the arrow fly…
