Hey folks! I just started writing this one and wanted to share it with those of you who still believe in Jude and Tommy. I know I do. Excuse the corn. :)

Resisting Change

Chapter One: Back Home

Upon opening the front door, Jude found herself surrounded by the familiar smell of juniper and vanilla which were her sister, Sadie's, favorite scents. She pulled her large bags and trunk into the doorway and closed it behind her. Standing in the entryway to her childhood home Jude couldn't help but reminisce of her younger days. Everything seemed so long ago now and she was proud of how far she had gone and how much she had grown.

Here she was, her 23rd birthday and no one was home.

Jude made a run through the house to find most things left the same way. There was a new painting above the mantle in the living room. A bit more artistic and abstract then what her dad may have liked. Since he moved out, Jude of course knew Sadie was going to try and make the place her own. The kitchen was entirely redecorated to an have an urban mod feel that consisted of stainless steel and black with a splash of green here and there. If was still homely, but modern. The pictures in the hallway had been reorganized and placed in new frames in a much orderly fashion. The hall table which used to hold mail, keys and coupons was now only friend to a large vase with fresh lilacs. Jude smiled at the idea of Sadie coming into her own with a house all to herself but still worried that she was lonely. She was glad to be back and hoping she would see her sister soon. Jude decided that Sadie must be doing some last minute grocery shopping so she proceeded to take her bags upstairs to what used to be and hopefully still was, her room.

Jude fell face first onto her bed. Surprised that a cloud of dust didn't rise around her, her room seemed as if was left untouched for the five years she had been in London. Her bed covers, curtains, pictures, trinkets, posters, that guitar…

"Ms Harrison, you have a package."

Jude had just walked into her ultra luxurious apartment complex of the stars and was eager to go to bed after a long day at the studio. Jude was not excited about having a package at the front desk. Standing in front of the open elevator she reluctantly rolled her eyes and turned around to face Brighton, the always cheerful and all-knowing, front desk manager. "Thanks," Jude grunted. Brighton placed the package on the counter. It was long and somewhat bulky, much different from the press packets and boxes of fan mail she had been receiving.

"Have a good night, Ms. Harrison." Brighton called as Jude lugged the package unto the elevator and giving him a half-hearted wave.

Upstairs she still wasn't eager to find out what was in the unique box and opted for the shower. Feeling much more refreshed, Jude hopped onto her bed turned the TV on and proceeded to brush any knots out of her newly washed hair. Out of the corner of her eye during a commercial she spotted the box. She was ready for it.

Tearing it open, she gasped. The guitar she always wanted, all white, black handle, wicked bearings…Jude wanted to cry. Who was this from?! Her record company? How could they have known? Jaime? No he was completely broke from starting his record label…there was only one. And there was a note.

It simply said, 'I understand. Was just thinking about you. T.'

It had been 6 months since Jude had arrived in London and she and Tommy had not spoken a word to each other. She was too afraid to talk to him and probably wouldn't be able to explain herself so that he would understand. She figured he would be too upset. Not a day went by that she didn't think about Tommy or wondered if she made the right decision. She had to live life without him so that she would have one.

She immediately grabbed her robe and headed back to the lobby.

"Brighton, I need you to send this back."

Brighton gasped at the stellar instrument and his mouth sat gaping, "But Ms. Harrison…it is magnificent!" he replied in his accent that was so fitting.

"I know," Jude stared dreamingly at it with him. "No! Send it back. First thing tomorrow."

"As you wish." He said holding it lovingly in his arms.

"You know what? Send it to my home address instead." Jude wanted to rid herself of as much of Tommy as she could and couldn't afford losing focus with him sending amazing gifts. But she also didn't want to hurt his feelings or make him think she didn't care by sending it back to him. She just couldn't have it now.

Brighton nodded and Jude went back upstairs to toss in bed until dawn.

Jude awoke to the doorbell ringing incessantly. Rubbing sleep out of her eyes and practically falling down the stairs she yanked the front door open, prepared to slap whoever was there.

"Darius?!" Jude quickly relaxed her punching arm. There was no way she was going up against Darius. He pulled her into a tight hug and messily kissed her cheek.

"How you been girl?! Happy birthday! Where's you sister? She's not answering her phone." Darius made himself at home quickly lying down on the couch and putting his feet up.

"I'm good. Thanks. I don't know and what are you doing here?" Jude stood exactly where he had left her. She finally closed the door and headed to the living room where he had found the remote to the television.

"Oh, your sister planned some big birthday dinner for you tonight. It's in a couple hours so I'm surprised she's not already here primping."

"Are you and Sadie back together?"

"Yeah…you know us! We are meant to be, no matter the obstacles!" He gave his loud 'Dariesque' laugh and proceeded to flip through the channels.

Still utterly confused, Jude went back upstairs to find her cell phone. Realizing she had left it off after exiting the plane she had to turn it on and then went into the bathroom. She was going to need to shower if her sister was taking her to dinner! After starting her bath water, she returned to her cell phone to find 20 missed calls, 6 voicemails, and 50 new text messages. She was in trouble.
