She could not believe how STUPID he could be sometimes!
He had run past ten heavily armed trained murderers, with complete abandon for his own safety, just as a distraction so they wouldn't shoot at her! She's the cop, it's her job to risk being shot at. She doesn't need him running around basically shouting LOOK AT ME I'M A TARGET! Beckett had no idea how Castle hadn't been shot in the hail of bullets, but she was so relieved when the paramedics gave him the OK.
She finished putting the last man into one of the patrol cars and noticed Ryan and Esposito leaning up against the far wall chatting with each other but Castle was nowhere to be seen. 'Where the hell was he now? Probably jumping in front of a car for all she knew' Kate just finished that thought when she saw him strolling towards her, grinning his face off. She knew the expression on her face must have been murderous because he stopped dead in his track a few paces from her and his eyes went wide.
Over with Ryan and Esposito...
Esposito stood up straighter and nodded towards Castle and Beckett
"Bro, you might wanna watch this. She looks like she's gonna kill him, ten bucks she slaps him" he said, smiling
"You're on, I bet she punches him" Ryan replied
Back with Castle and Beckett...
"Um, hey Kate" Castle said timidly just before she step towards him...then slapped him as hard as she could, which was pretty damn hard, and sent him stumbling backwards. As she turned her head slightly she saw Ryan hand Esposito some money, she noted to ask them about it later. Kate reached out an arm to steady him but took it away again as soon as she was sure he wasn't going to fall down
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU WERE DOING!" she roared at him, causing him and many other people in the vicinity to jump. Everyone turned around to watch the scene unfold in front of them but she barely noticed or cared
"I was jus-" he started to say but she cut him off
"Shut up!" she said as she pulled him towards her by the lapels of his jacket to kiss him, eliciting a lot of gasps from surrounding people. Initially Castle was shocked but ended up kissing her back with just as much ferocity, eventually the kiss became slower, deeper and more affectionate. They both pulled away at the same time and just looked in each others eyes like they tended to do
"You do realise we just kissed , a lot, in front of basically everyone we know and work with who we didn't want to know about us yet" Castle said calmly, smiling
"Oh who cares, you just saved my life again, even if it was a stupid and reckless thing to do" Kate replied, smiling back. She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see Ryan and Esposito looking amused
"You two got something you'd like to share with the class?"
