"Eternal Summer"
I would fashion thee a crown
To wear about thy golden head.
In it's center I would place
A jewel of splendid radiance;
Catch within it the beams
Pouring forth from the fount of light.
---
Had I the power.
---
I would craft for thee a ring
To wind about thy gentle finger
Upon it I would string
The wav'ring sunlight on dancing grass;
Drive back the shadows
Enshrouding thy stifled soul
---
Had I the power.
---
I would take these sullied waters
And make with them a spring,
Bubb'ling with the waters of renewal,
Flowing through a thriving paradise.
---
Had I the power.
---
I would weave them all with
The music on the wind,
And sing for you a morn' renewed---
Eternal summer, show'ring rainbow's hue!
---
Had I the power.
---
I would grab a hold the reigns of Time
And keep this day cast in its golden song
So we could soar amongst the clouds
On a high and windy day;
No stars to trouble us
With their piercing truths
And lances of faded silver.
---
Had I the power,
I would give thee eternal summer
And not but these sullied words
On a crumpl'd page.
---
But I am just me.
---
I am just me,
And mine is the paint that shall ever-fade,
And thine is the heart cast in winter's night---
And so the stars our doom hath created.
