Kurama walked silently past the store windows. They all had festive displays for Christmas. if only he could feel festive, but he couldn't. He just couldn't get into the mood this season. He quickly diverted his eyes to his feet ,and clutched the bulging package to his chest. He had told Hiei that he would be bringing home ramen tonight. Hiei had just sneered at him and said if you must. Kurama ran the rest of the way home. Kurama and Hiei had lived in a small one room apartment on a bad side of the neighborhood. Hiei liked it because he said there was a lot of people to fight there. Kurama thought it was scary. when Kurama tried to explain this to Hiei, he only laughed at him and said "big strong fox man afraid of a wittle dirt?" Kurama sighed and went inside. He walked up a flight of stairs and through a door way. A plump rat skittered across his path. Kurama shuttered. He had never liked rats. Kurama opened the door and yelled "Hiei, are you home?" No one answered.
"Great" ,thought Kurama, he's still out fighting. Kurama walked over to his bed and pulled up the mattress. Under it laid a single tiny razor.
Kurama quickly picked it up and went into the bathroom. He locked the door behind him. Trembling, he quickly slashed a vertical line across his wrist. As he watched the slow red blood drip down his arm he waited till the familiar rust to come to him. The blood slowly trickled down his arm. when they hit the ground they mixed with tears. Kurama's tears. Why me? He asked as he slowly slid into darkness. "Why me?"
