"I'm serious you guys!" Xander yelled at Willow, Anya, Tara, Spike, and Dawn who were laughing hysterically at his story. "Why would I just make up a story like that? A giant dog with an elephant trunk ate my boots!" Xander's retelling of the story just made the group laugh harder.
"Tell me this, why would a, a giant dog with an elephant trunk eat your boots?" The fact that Spike was laughing so hard made everyone else cry with laughter.
"Look, I don't know. That's why I came to ask you about it." Xander said searching for any sign of the humiliation to end. "He, or umm she is evil! Since I am friends with the Slayer, he, she, it wanted Buffy to suffer because of my missing boots."
"Xander! That's so funny!" Dawn squealed. "I'm glad you are making us happy at this not happy time."
"Yep." Xander sighed. "That's me cheerful guy."
"Maybe it was just a nightmare you had, but you thought it was real." Tara told her friend.
"Yeah I guess."
"Wait!" Anya screamed. "I thought you nightmares had me and you being chased by a bunny in a clown suit? Or was it a clown in a bunny suit?"
"ANYA! There is no need to discuss my nightmares!!"
"It's ok Xander." Willow said patting his shoulder. "Once I had a nightmare that these frogs ate all the grass and then there were mare frogs that were planning to take over the world."
Buffy burst in the door, "Guys, guess what I just slayed! A giant dog with an elephant trunk! He kept saying something about boots. It was really strange."
"Wow. umm. that's weird," Willow replied avoiding Xander's eyes. "Should we uh. research it?"
