"…If only they didn't take my lock picks…" the small voice mused to herself as she examined the lock on the iron cage of the cell. "I wonder how they figured to look in my boot…"
She sighed and sat back against the brick wall. Swiping a piece of light pink hair out of her face, she let out the sigh to swipe away some of the frustration. "If only, if only." She muttered. She settles against the wall. 'Well, might as well get comfortable.' She thought.
It had been a very hectic week. Playing with the leather on her boots she glared at the lock, just to make sure it got all of her hatred.
The older man in the cell next to her snored in his sleep and pressed himself against the bars, a strand of drool slipping from his mouth.
'I wonder how long he's been here… don't end up like that old girl. You'll escape… Never be like that Kay.'
Kay Maylee gave another deep sigh and looked up. She was usually in these circumstances. It ran in her family. She was convinced of that. Her pale pink hair was in two ponytails. She had an innocent and a nasty habit of getting herself into a lot of trouble. She didn't mind though, she actually enjoyed the thrill of being close to death. Not only that, but she was valuable, more valuable than she knew.
In fact, not many people knew just how valuable she was. In fact, only four people knew how valuable she was. These people would include her stepmother who had past on many years beforehand (during the birth of her first and only real daughter); her stepfather who was murdered a year prior to the moment; The Prince of Dunire (who was in fact her only relative still alive); and the one who must not be named.
The sign on the wall had told her there would be big rewards for risking her life. She normally wouldn't have considered it, but at that point she was quite low on money and she owed a few people a bit more than a bit.
That is how she ended up 2354.2 miles from the sign she read and locked in a prison cell. She was hoping nothing could get worse. She was quite wrong.
