Disclaimer: I own nothing of Lord of the Rings.
I sit in my room at Brandy Hall feeling a mixture of shock and utter joy. I still couldn't believe what had happened just a few hours ago. Bilbo had asked to adopt me!
As I sit on my bed I replay that joyous moment over and over in my head just to make sure that I hadn't been dreaming when it happened. Bilbo had come to Buckland for a little visit. To be more exact he had come to see me. "Hello, Frodo my lad," he said cheerfully. "How about you and I go out for a little walk, hmm?" I agreed and we set off.
After a few hours of walking, Bilbo and I found a small wooded area with a little stream running by it. We sat down to a 'small' lunch that Aunt Esmeralda had made us bring along. Bilbo had seemed strangely quiet during the whole expedition, only saying a few things once in awhile. Usually when Bilbo had come to visit he would always have some story to tell me, but today he seemed nervous about something.
Once we finished our lunch, we both sat back against a tree and listened to the peaceful sound of the running water. Finally, Bilbo said something. "Frodo, I've been meaning to tell you something," he began. "About what?" I asked turning my head to face him. Bilbo cleared his throat before continuing. "Well, I know this may seem a little strange but..." He stopped and placed a hand on my shoulder. "I would like you to come live with me."
I stared at Bilbo for a few moments, mouth agape and eyes wide. Speechless. I didn't say anything for a while, I couldn't. I didn't know what to say. I guess my stunned silence made Bilbo a little uneasy because he blurted out, "But that's only if you want to, lad."
"Oh, Bilbo!" I finally exclaimed. "Do you really mean it?!" Bilbo sighed a sigh of relief and began to chuckle. "Yes, I do," he replied. "Oh, Bilbo," I said again, "I would love to." Bilbo then pulled me into a loving embrace and let me cry my tears of joy into his shoulder.
Bilbo and I then headed back to Brandy Hall to tell everyone the good news. The first person to greet us was Uncle Saradoc. "I see young Frodo here has agreed to come with you, Bilbo," he said. "Indeed he has," replied Bilbo with a smile.
Preparations were soon made. Bilbo and I would set off for Hobbiton the next day.
I now sit on my bed, bags packed and piled high and set beside it. It's quite late, probably midnight, I'm not sure. But I can't seem to sleep at all. I'm much too excited. I can't wait to see my new home.

A/N: My first fic ever posted on and I hope you like it. I know it's a little short but I may have longer ones in the future. Let me know if like this story or not, and if you don't tell me how I can improve.
