I got this idea when this story telling person came into our Astronomy class and told us some stories from different cultures about Astronomy.
I don't own Warriors. I'm not the Erin Hunters.
Another peaceful night. Like every night over the past moon, it was perfect. Silverpelt's comforting presence was clear and bright. The moon acted as a guide for all late night patrols, even as it went through its lunar cycle.
But the moon was not the only one changing.
Higher than the mountains and past the Sun-Drown Place, the Sun grew stormier. Magnetic storms brewed over sunspots. Solar flares arched into space, throwing her in turmoil. Helpless to stop it, huge amounts of plasma flew into her corona…and straight towards Earth.
Meanwhile, as the Clans settled in for sleep, a curtain of green light appeared in the dark sky. Spiderleg was the first to notice at his sentry point.
"F…F…Firestar! There's something in the sky!" He yowled.
At the sound of his panic stricken yowl, Warriors, Apprentices, Queens and Elders poured out of their dens.
"What is it?" Honeypaw shrieked.
"Is the sky breaking?" Daisy panicked, drawing her kits closer.
"I'm not sure," Firestar confessed, "Leafpool? Is this a sign from StarClan?"
Surprised at being put on the spot, Leafpool said, "Maybe so. It certainly may be, but it's so unclear," Leafpool murmured.
"I've never seen anything like it," Mousefur marveled.
The cats watched in a mixture of horror and awe as the phenomena proceeded. Red, green, purple, and white hues rippled, splashed, and wove through the sky. They rose in columns that seemed to climb to StarClan itself, and painted lines that made bridges to other territories in the sky.
"What is happening?" Briarkit whispered to her mother.
"Why…StarClan's dancing," Millie said after a moment.
And from that day on, it became a Clan legend that every so often when StarClan decides to dance; peace will rain in the forest for many moons.
In case you didn't know, those were the aurora borealis. Judging by where I think the Clans live, you can't see aurora that often at that latitude. But during solar maximum, if there is a strong enough Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) heading towards Earth, you may see an aurora. Okay, I'm done my lecture. Please review. :)
