Shiori Suzuki Diary

Part One

My dark chocolate eyes scanned the road I was strolling on, then I looked up. Seeing Jiraiya's back turned to me, revealing his scarlet red vest and his light green hakama pants. I must say, he's thin on the inside but on the outside his attire made him look quite fat. But, due to having respect, I have always held it in. Anyway, we've been doing a lot of walking, up until the point I felt no fat on my stomach. "Hey, Jiraiya-San, can we take a break?" I asked, pouting a bit. His head turned over his shoulder, a smirk wavering through his lips as his dark gray eyes held mine. "You can hang in there kid, we're almost there." My eyes lit up in surprise, amazing how time flies. Finally, my thoughts had decided to come to my lips. "Mm..hey, Jiraiya-San, what's your opinion on the human race?" I asked, running briskly to his side. "Huh? Why?" He questioned with a raised eyebrow, he glanced down at me, causing me to shrug off his curious stare. "I've been thinking, about life and death, dreams and souls." His walking slowly came to a stop, he turned toward me completely, his narrowed eyes allowing me to bow my head in an apologetic manner, but no matter. I had a strong feeling that he would allow me to get off what was on my mind, and he seemed interested to know. I gave a gulp before I continued, "You know, sometimes, I forget I'm in a body, I even forget that I'm actually breathing and living. Also, I wonder about emotions, and how tragic and beautiful life can be. And, this may seem strange..but..I thought about life..in another life." Jiraiya raised his eyebrow, Just how could a child such as her be so curious and so deep?
"A life..in another life?" He asked, trying to get a grasp of what I was saying. I continued, "I wonder, instead of humans we would just be these small orbs of light falling from the heavens, we wouldn't have to worry about what we looked like because we resembled this glow of love and happiness. It was a place in the nothingness, and everyone's love for one another kept everyone from the pain and hurt." I looked up now, after what I said. His head turned away from me, I could sense that he was thinking about what I thought. "You are a very deep person, Shiori.. what's made you think those thoughts?" I shook my head slowly, "I..I can't remember." He raised an eyebrow, allowing the silence to take over our words for a moment. Finally, I was relieved when he looked over to me.
"We should get going." He turned on his heel and continued his walk cautiously, as if he were waiting for me to follow. Happiness coursed through me, he didn't laugh in my face like some other people did when I mentioned these theories, I didn't have to hide just how much of a curious kunoichi I really am. With a smile wavering through my lips, I gave a giggle and rushed behind him, gradually continuing our walk to Konoha.
