Always

It was easy for Lily to fall for Scorpius. Who wouldn't fall for the handsome boy with the flying grades and witty tongue to match?

It was easier for Rose to fall in love with Scorpius. She alone saw past the green and silver that clouded everyone's perception of everyone.

It was Lily that Scorpius danced with at the Yule Ball. "You look good in that," he smiled, and a blush redder than her red hair spread across her cheeks.

It was Rose he had found sobbing in the library. "Winky died," she offered by way of explanation. That she could feel so much for a creature enslaved by magic touched him in ways it shouldn't have.

Remember when things were actually easy? He stared at the piece of parchment with the elegant words scrawled across it in her hand.

Rosie's.

It had always been Rose.

But it was a transgression, to love them both at once.

Or was it?

Did he even love them both?

"It's always going to be easy from now on," he whispered into her ears by the lakeside at midnight as the frost nipped at their fingers and toes. The great squid gurgled in agreement.

"What about Lily?" she whispered. Rose couldn't hurt a twig.

"We spoke, baby. Don't you see? It's always been you and me."
