One shot (or possible two shot)… Takes place after the fourth book for story purposes
Nothing good comes out of Truth or Dare
All of the flock was sitting in a circle minus Fang who had offered to go into town to buy food for us. Surviving, on the run, the typical day of the avian-American, I suppose, in a way, you get use to it. I was poking at the fire while Iggy listened for anyone at the entrance of the cave that was not Fang. We hadn't seen M-Geeks in awhile but it happens, you know? You slack off and suddenly, an entire army is charging at you through the bathroom door (not that that happened).
"Max," Angel complained, "I'm bored. Can we play a game?" I sighed, being a cave there was much to do but being the leader I had to come up with a way to let the flock have fun without ultimately putting them in danger. Outside rain was pouring and I was worried that Fang would get stuck in town if it starting to thunder.
"Oh, let's play Truth or Dare," I turned my head towards Nudge to see her smiling wide with excitement. "It's supposed to be a really fun game. When we went to that school, a few girls taught me how to play but I never actually got a turn." I noticed Iggy's grin, he seemed to like the idea.
"Fine, we'll play that," I informed her. The game sounded familiar but I had never really played it before or had heard the rules. Nudge, seeming to know that, began to inform us on the rules. Apparently, a truth was a question you had to answer with the truth and a dare is something you had to do no matter what. Apparently there were no take-backs.
"All right," Nudge said with a grin, "I'll go first. Gazzy," her eyes turned to the Gasman.
"Ugh, dare?" Gazzy's blonde hair was sticking up with a cow lick. He had a smear of dirt across on his cheek. His torn red shirt and jean shorts were just as dirty.
Nudge leaned back on her hands and thought about it. Finally, she sat up straight before clapping her hands with victory. "I dare you to run out into the rain screaming 'I wish I was a girl'." I was about to protest that when Nudge added, "In your boxers!"
Before I could say that wasn't going to happen, the Gasman was already running out into the rain. From where we sat, we could only see him taking off his shirt. Luckily, we were far enough and the rain was pouring enough that we couldn't really see Gazzy once he to the edge of the cliff. All we heard was Gazzy's voice mixing in with the rain saying, "I wish I was a girl!" Laughter broke out through the cave, even when Gazzy returned back in his shirt and shorts. He giggled along with them. The amusements of an eight-year-old, they are a bit simple.
"All right," Gazzy said with a laugh, "Iggy, truth or dare."
"Dare," Iggy said with a smirk as if he could handle anything.
"I dare you to hug Fang- when he gets back," Gazzy said with a smile. I started laughing. Just to see that would be, hilarious.
"Oh, you think you're so funny Maximum Ride? Well, it's my turn to ask a question because Fang isn't here right now. Truth or Dare?" Iggy was still smiling. Nudge was giggling at the thought of Iggy actually going through with his dare. Based off the last two dares, I went with what I thought would be safer.
"Truth," I replied. What could they possibly ask me that would in any way be embarrassing as those last two dares? I didn't expect Iggy to say what he said next.
"Who, if anyone, do you have a crush on?" Oh crap and it wasn't like I could lie because Angel, the mind-reader, could call me out on it. For a moment, I sat there contemplating on running away or actually admitting who I like. "Is it Fang?"
"Yes," WHAT? Did that just come out of my mouth? Oh no, oh no, now that the flock knows he's going to find out and he doesn't like me like that. He likes that stupid Brigid. Oh geez, Iggy's going to tell him. Iggy's his best friend and apparently, best friends tell each other everything and Iggy can never keep a secret to save his life.
"Eww," Gazzy snorted. "Are you're serious?"
Nudge nodded her head, "I can see that. It's kind of obvious." What obvious? Does that mean Fang already knows? Crap! Stupid Truth or Dare! Nothing good can come out of it. I stood up and was about to go stand in the rain but my turn to ask someone to go next in this stupid, stupid game. I let out a breath, hoping everyone would forget what just happened and never, EVER tell Fang what I said.
"Nudge, truth or dare?" I asked. Just before we said anything, Iggy was standing up and staring at the cave. We turned our attention to the front of the cave where a figure stood. "Don't say a word, please." That's me- Maximum Ride, beginning that no one tells the boy she likes that she just admitted it to everyone but him. Fang would kill me for telling the flock before him and for not being honest with him which as best friend we're supposed to do.
Fang entered the cave shaking his hair. I stood there blushing like there was no freakin' tomorrow as he raised an eyebrow to stare at me. He lifted his arms to reveal two bags of groceries which we had bought with money we had been given by my mom when we once again, left. "Food?" he asked. Suddenly, the flock was charging him and going for food. I remained standing watching each of them to make sure no one was telling him. The only person I couldn't completely trust was Angel who can you know- speak to people in their minds. Oh god- this is so embarrassing. What if he found out and then things got awkward between us? It's not like we could avoid each other after promising to never split up again.
Suddenly, a bag of chips was tossed at me and I caught them. Fang was smirking as I fumbled with the bag and went to sit down at the edge of the cave. All I kept thinking was somehow, I just screwed up the best friendship I had in the entire world by admitting to feelings I had no plans on acting on. Why did I have to realize how I felt after he kissed me like that? Why? And why did we have to meet stupid Brigid, liking him like that and him liking her back. I felt like one of the stupid books teens can read. You know the ones.
Boy meets girl.
Boy kisses girl.
Girl realizes she's harvesting a love for boy.
Boy meets red headed girl.
Boy likes that Girl.
Girl admits feelings to her flock of flying kids.
Boy finds out from guy best friend of Girl's feelings.
Girl gets laughed at.
Boy and Girl are awkwardly trying to be friends.
It doesn't Work.
The End.
The only thought I have while Fang sits down next to me to eat from the bag of chips:
What have I done?
Based off of something that actually happened to me. I admitted to all of my friends and the guy I like's friends that I had a crush on him during a game of truth or dare (he wasn't present). This happened yesterday so I had to write it out somehow so I could focus on my other fanfictions so here is another MR from me because I'm freaking out about what might happen. Ah well, it gave me another interesting one-shot to write or possibly two-shot.
