"Here you are, Hermione," Mrs. Granger, having just gotten the mail, handed Hermione an oddly thick envelope of yellow parchment. Hermione read it:
Ms. H. Granger
749 Chesterton Rd
Cambridge, England
It was written in emerald-green ink, and had no stamp on it. On the back it was sealed with a purple wax coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake all surrounding an H. Hermione ripped open the letter and read:
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
-----------------------------------
Head master: Albus Dumbledore Order of Merlin, first class;GrandSorc;
Chf. Warlock, supreme mugwump, Int. Confd. Of Wizards.
Dear Ms. Granger,

There was also another letter:
Ms. Granger,
We do realize that you are muggle born (Your parents are Nonmagical) To get the things you need go to The Leaky Cauldron and ask the bartender how to get into Diagon Alley. Once your there go to Gringott's Wizarding Bank to exchange your money for galleons, sickles, and knuts (Wizard money) Enjoy your shopping!
Hermione folded up the letter, stood up, and went to find her mom. This was just not possible. Magic didn't really exist…or did it?
"Mom?" Hermione peered around the doorway into her parent's bedroom.
"Yes dear?" "Um…-er-I have something I think you should see." She walked over into the room, the letter clutched behind her back.
Her mom turned to face her, "What is it?" Hermione held out the letter; Her mom took it and began reading. "Hermione," Mrs. Granger looked up smiling, then gave her daughter a hug, "This is great!"
"Wh-what?" Hermione pushed away from her mother, "But mom, what's 'Hogwarts'?"
"Oh, it's that school the Parkinson's, next door, have been talking about for awhile now." Hermione grimaced; the Parkinson's had a daughter around her age. Her name was Pansy Parkinson. Pansy Parkinson was an awful little pug faced girl. She was also extremely spoiled. Hermione's mom didn't seen to notice her face and continued talking.
"Well, I guess we'd better get going to…Die…a…gone Alley. You need to get your books."
