I'd Give Anything
Sakura watched the couple from the park bench. She wasn't stalking or anything, she just happened to be at the park, enjoying the sunshine, reading a book, when she saw them, and she couldn't help but stare.
They looked so perfect together.
So happy.
So in love.
She was suddenly, inexplicably jealous…
Well, not inexplicably. She was jealous because she wanted that happy-perfect-in-love feeling. And she knew she would never get it.
She would never get the subtle (and not so subtle) kisses couples bestowed upon each other. She would not get the promises of love forever (or any promise of love at all). She would not get the happiness one feels when they know they truly belong to another. She would never get her very own true love. She would never get her very own happily ever after.
But she would give anything for it. She'd give anything to have that happiness, to have that true love. She'd give anything for that happily ever after and the promises of love forever. She would give anything for the feeling of belonging to another.
But none would have her. She was odd, with her odd pink hair and her bright green eyes, and her giant forehead. No, she would always be rejected by all.
Besides, who would love a dying girl?
She watched the lavender haired girl giggle and blush as the man with the spikey blond hair kissed her, pushed her bangs away from her bright eyes, and whispered what were probably sweet-nothings into her ear.
Sakura would admit that she envied this girl with the long lavender hair and the pale-opal eyes. She envied her for all that the girl had with her blond-haired, blue-eyed boyfriend-lover-fiancé-husband. Whatever, whoever, he was to her. It was obvious he was important to her. It was obvious they were happily in love.
Sakura envied that innocent looking girl for all that she had with that man, all that Sakura would never have, herself.
She just wanted a chance.
It was unjust, she knew. But she couldn't help it. It was something she couldn't control. Besides, it wasn't like she would harm the girl.
No, Sakura would just sit and watch them a while more, she would pretend to watch the children play, she would pretend to watch the animals scurry, she would pretend to read her book, she would pretend not to have a care in the world, and she would pretend not to notice them.
But she would watch.
She would watch their happily ever after continue to unfold.
La-di-da, I think I'm getting better at posting stories!
Updating? Not so much, but I'm gonna try to update some of my on going stories tomorrow (see, now that I've said this, I'll feel bad if I don't).
I was trying to make this a drabble but, obviously, I failed. Oh, well, I rather like the way it turned out.
Except for the very end, I just couldn't find the words I needed to make it portray what I was trying to get at. *Sigh*
Review and let me know your opinions!
I need a little C-C.
Constructive-Criticism.
