Author's Notes: Ernie's Hufflepuff sense of justice kicks in. Set during DH. This is the first thing I've written in over a year, so hopefully it's not too bad. Getting exactly 100 words is hard...
"Congratulations, Ernie!"
The Hufflepuff prefect merely grunted in reply and continued to walk down the hallway. His friend Susan gave him a slightly worried look.
"What's wrong, Ern? Most people would be over the moon if they were in your shoes. I mean, top of the class… That's quite an achievement. You should be proud!"
"I don't deserve it." Rather than clarifying the situation, Ernie's response only served to further confuse his friend.
"What are you talking about? You've worked hard for seven years! Why wouldn't you deserve it?"
"I'm only the top because Hermione didn't come back this year."
