Hey there! It's been a while since I've posted/updated anything, and for that you have my sincerest apologies. I had school, then I went on vacation where I had no internet, much to my dismay. Fortunately though that gave me some time to write. So with that as my parting message, let's get on with the show!
Disclaimer: I do not own criminal minds, Kt Tunstall or her fabulous song Through the Dark.
The bar smelled of smoke and booze, but that was nothing new to the woman sitting on a stool in the almost empty building. She drank alone, not wanting the company of neither man nor woman, friend nor lover. Only wanting to be left with her thoughts. The singer on the stage was a woman of similar appearance to the one at the bar. Her fingers glide over the keys of the piano effortlessly, her raspy voice filling the bar.
As I walk away, I look over my shoulder to see what I'm leaving behind.
Pieces of puzzles, and wishes on eyelashes fail.
The woman at the bar listened mindlessly as she continued to drink. The singer's words hitting home at every point.
Oh how do I show all the love inside my heart?
For this is all new, and I'm feeling my way through the dark.
Thinking about the one who waits at home for her, the woman at the bar sighs heavily. She doesn't know how to do this at all. Love isn't something she's familiar with, and quite frankly, it scares the shit out of her. She feels like she's stumbling around in the dark.
Now I used to talk with honest conviction of how I predicted my world.
I'm gonna leave it to star gazers
Tell me what your telescope says.
She remembers how she used to talk about how she wouldn't care if she never found that special someone, she had her job to keep her occupied. Now she realizes that she's no more able to walk away from her someone than she is her job, but she doesn't mind.
Oh what is in store for me now?
It's coming apart
I know that it's true
Cos I'm feeling my way through the dark
Her defenses against him are falling, wearing down, and she finds herself loving it.
Trying to find a light on somewhere
Trying to find a light on somewhere
I'm finding I'm falling in love with the dark over here
No matter how hard the woman tries to deny it, she knows that she's fallen for him. She lifts the drink up to her mouth and takes a generous sip, trying to quench the fear she's feeling. The bell over the door rings, signaling the arrival of another person. She knows it's him before he even reaches her.
"I thought I might find you here." his voice warms her insides, something she never gets tired of. She merely shrugs and gives him a small smile in response as she finishes off the rest of her drink.
Oh, what do I know, I don't care where I start
For my troubles are few
As I'm feeling my way through the dark
Through the dark
I'm feeling my way through the dark
The woman slides off the stool after paying and he wraps his arm around her shoulders as they head towards the exit. She smiles when he kisses her head, knowing that she hasn't been this happy for a very long time, so she's more that ready to stumble through the dark a little longer.
Okay so I assume you all have figured out that the woman at the bar was Emily. I pictured the man being Hotch in my head, but feel free to make it whoever. Please please please review! I will try my best to update my other stories later tonight and later this weekend.
