The Figure In the Dark
Chapter 1
It was a dark and dreary Halloween night, and David Sicowits was walking back to his mother's house for dinner. The twelve year old boy took a short cut through the woods. Whilst he was waking, he saw a dark figure at the corner of his eye. Dave didn't usually go through the woods by himself at night. He suddenly stiffened. His eyes sanded the damp, lifeless trees. He couldn't see the figure any ware. Dave carried on walking. To his relief, he could see dim- miring lights in the distends. But however, when he took his next step, it changed his life for ever.
As his foot tucked the ground, Dave realised that it wasn't hard any more. It felt lumpy, mushy and oozing with liquid. When Dave looked down at his feet, his newly white trainers were now stained red. He was so shocked, he fell to the floor. But as he tried to get back up, he realised that he was on top of a dead, torn cat.
When he came back round, all he seemed to remember was seeing bones peeking out of mouldy flesh and skin. But now, it was all gone. Dave started to get up again, when an unexpected wind caused him to trip. He started to get wary. After a while, the wind got softer, and softer. And eventually, he started to see the dark figure again, whizzing past him like a shooting star. Suddenly, the figure stopped a couple of feet away from the frightened boy.
It was a man, who was wearing a long black cloak that came down to his scruffy ankles. His shoes were made of black leather that was as shiny as the Spanish sea. His long brown hair was dirty and greasy. But it was his face that had taken Dave by surprise.
His eyes were a glowing red colour, just like the blood he had just seen. His nose and cheeks were as normal as any mans, but, it was the mouth that scared Dave the most.
There was blood all around his mouth and dripping from his glossy white teeth. He snarled like a dog, awaiting its dinner. But the last thing that Dave saw that day (and for the rest of its life) was the slickness of the man's teeth burrowing into Dave's neck.
