Quick drabble written in an airport. First time ever writing Sagi and Gena! Gena was pretty fun to write. Please enjoy!
A Future to Hold
Sagi was an inquisitive child. From the moment he could speak, he began asking questions – all kinds of questions. It was in a child's nature to be curious, of course, but Gena soon discovered that Sagi liked to ask questions far beyond the reckoning of the average child. It was somewhat unsettling, and maybe a little worrisome. Sometimes, Gena wondered if it had anything to do with the tampering that Baelheit and his men had done.
"Mom?" little Sagi asked one day, while he watched his mother string up the laundry outside their new home in Hassaleh. "What's the future gonna be like?"
Gena chuckled warmly and shook her head. "I don't know, Sagi. No one does. That's what the future is – one big surprise after another."
Sagi seemed to think about this for a moment. The damp clothes on the lines rippled gently in the wind. "What about Magnus? Will that be around in the future, Mom? Or magic? Will we lose that stuff?"
"Oh, Sagi." Gena finished clipping a sheet to the line and turned to crouch before Sagi. "You work that little mind of yours so hard, mister. Give yourself a rest every now and then, you hear?" She kissed his forehead gently and turned back to the laundry. Rubbing his forehead, Sagi knew one thing for sure – the future would have his mom in it.
