They were tragic beauty; spending forever in each other's arms.
Deafening silence haunts her like he can't.
"For always,"
he said, but that was before she knew.
"Eternity,"
he said, but she didn't know what that meant.
She thought it'd be beautiful.
They were fiction come to life.
She thought she had known the end.
If life was just a series of unfortunate happenings,
wouldn't death be the release?
This was supposed to make everything better.
He was supposed to make it all go away.
Now he was falling short on his promises
and she was losing what was left of her mind.
This wasn't what she wanted,
but god, did she want it then.
She realizes the longing now,
for what she willingly gave away.
God, she just wanted sleep.
This is what she wanted, so he says.
But she's not one to listen anymore.
He's her savior in this mess and she can't stand it.
"I tried,"
he said, shouldn't that be enough?
"Loved,"
he said, and she doesn't feel it.
She doesn't feel anything anymore.
She wants to save him,
protect him,
get him out of this hell.
But how can she do that, when she can't
look in his eyes?
She doesn't know who he is anymore.
"Romeo and Juliet,"
he said, so isn't this the first step?
