A Hunter Chronicle (Naruto and HxH)
Disclaimer: This story is fiction. All the characters, names and places belong to their respective owners.
"Talking" – 'Thought' – "Demonic Speeches" – Memory Lane/Names – (Thought Scenario) – Important.
I am not sure how long this story will go for. It all depends on how many people enjoy it. If there's not a lot of interest then the story will wrapped up very quickly. Otherwise, it will be very lengthy with multiple arcs planned. I've catch up with my HunterxHunter following lately, and felt that world deserves a Naruto to spice thing up with his antic. Kurama is there as well!
=[Prologue]=
Act I
"Stop stealing my collection, she said."
"Stop trying to relive the past, she said."
"Stop bothering me with my work, she said."
"I hate you Nee-chan," shouted a blond-haired boy in oversize clothing. He hammered his fist in the air with frustration while a small fox was struggling stay on the top of his head.
"You idiot! Why did you prank her? And why am I being punished as well?" The fox growled angrily. Its small paws couldn't hold onto his friend's head, thus it continued to slide down from the backside.
"Until you grow up and act your age, you will be in this body," lectured a very beautiful woman with buxom figure. Her immersed divine spiritual aura was suffocating. Fortunately, since the Sage was not very sensitive to spiritual release, it wasn't that much of a problem.
"Ah shut it, furball! We share the same body so if she cursed me, you get cursed as well. Now look at me, I'm freaking twelve again! I hate being this age!" Naruto snapped back, pulling up his baggy pant so it doesn't drop completely to the floor.
"And did I mention she freaking dumped us here, what where the hell is here?" Naruto added as Kurama puffed out a bit of fire.
"Yes, like dozens of times in the last few minutes," Kurama snorted. "As for where he is, it's your fault! Damn it! You said you were bored and wanted a new place to go to. What was it exactly? A place with monstrous animals, rare species, buried riches, hidden bounties, uncharted lands, awesome powers…" Kurama deadpanned while rolling its eyes.
"Monstrous animals…" Naruto saw some exotic animals passing by. They were very docile, walking along side with several adults, who seemed to be their owner.
"Bullshit! What part of that is monstrous?" Naruto pointed at the creature he'd never seen before.
"Where are the buried riches? Hidden treasures? Unknown places? Awesome powers?" Naruto added with frustration.
"Baka! We have only been here for an hour! We haven't seen anything yet," Kurama retorted, swinging its body back and forth behind the blond's head like a pendulum via its paws. The fox's usual spot was on the Sage's shoulder, but since the Sage in question had reverted back into a kid, his shoulder was no longer broad enough to be used as a comfortable seat even with its miniature size.
"I don't sense any Chakra in the air either, nor Reiryoku (spiritual energy)," Naruto pointed out. The fox agreed with the blond as it'd also noticed the oddity a while ago, but didn't say anything then.
"Shinigami-sama told us that the inhabitants of this realm use Nen instead of Chakra, and they called themselves Hunter instead of Shinobi," Kurama reminded as Naruto rubbed the back of his head. He was frustrated for the last hour so he'd completely forgotten about that piece of critical information.
"There are people here that rivaled even the Kage in term of power, like the one with a wish granting power," Naruto recited from memory, rubbing his chin a bit as his oversize cloth dangling around his waist. "Now that is some awesome power, to grant any wish! I wish for never ending bowl of –
"Right… First thing first, you need to change your attire, people are looking at us," Kurama advised, pointing his nine chibi tails at various people in sight. They had a curious look on as they made no effort of concealing their staring.
"I think they're more interesting in you," Naruto commented when he returned the gaze at the spectators.
"I don't swing that way, thank you very much," Kurama replied sarcastically before shouting at the bystanders in annoyance. "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!? NEVER SEEN A TALKING FOX BEFORE?"
"Actually, no, I've never seen an animal that talk," a tall, slender frame man answered, checking out the fox and the blond-haired boy while the people dispersed elsewhere. "But the world is a very big place. Even now, the majority of it is still unexplored, so there are things that will surprise me like you."
Naruto blinked before rubbing the back of his neck in irritation. The spoken person was so tall, and he needed to tilt his head back to see the man's face. After a few more torturous seconds, Naruto decided he had enough.
"Wait here," Naruto ordered before running off to the side of the street and stood up on a wooden bench at its highest point. He waved the man to come over. The man chuckled and complied with the boy's request.
"This is much better. The name's Naruto Uzumaki, who are you?" Naruto asked, now matching the man eyes' level thanked to the extra height.
"Ah, where are my manners? I am Kite, a contract hunter, at your service, Naruto-kun," the silver haired man greeted and bowed lightly with a smile. "May I ask out of curiosity, where did you find your pet?"
"Who's the pet!? I'm nobody's pet!" Kurama snapped intimidated before sent forth a small, but potent, flaming ball at Kite. The Hunter's eyes widened slightly, and he quickly stepped to the side, effectively dodging it. It flew off into the sky as a few people followed its flight path with awe.
"Sorry about that. He's not a pet, more like a companion, a partner, a lover," Naruto joked about the last bit, causing Kurama to blink and Kite burst out with laugher.
"Umm, so what is the benefit of being a Hunter?" Naruto asked afterward. The veteran Hunter replaced the mirthfulness with a thoughtful and serious expression. He explained the blond child about being a hunter and what it actually entitled to.
"Then anyone can become a Hunter? Cool! Where do I sign up?" Naruto asked, raising his head. Kite pondered whether the boy in front of him had what it takes to become a hunter. His eyes landed on the creature on top afterward. The boy's fox companion was fairly dangerous as he'd narrowly dodged that flaming attack. He was surprised, but as a seasoned hunter, he shouldn't freeze up like that.
"Anyone can be a Hunter, but the ship headed for Dolle Harbor has already left," Kite said, pointing at the small ship in the horizon. "You will need to get that harbor, Zaban city is where the examination will be taken place this year." Kite added. Naruto stared at the ship along with Kurama.
"Hmm. It's not moving very fast. We will make it later, for now, you need a change of cloth!" Kurama suggested, estimating the ship's speed with experienced eyes. It wasn't much out at sea. Kite was interested in what the fox had said and stayed with the boy for a bit longer as they went to check out clothing store in the harbor nearby.
"I don't have any money," Naruto whispered to the fox after finding something suitable to wear.
"Just make some with Onmyouton (Ying-Yang releases). This will teach her to dump us here. We're going to screw up this place's economy so bad!" Kurama suggested with a mischievous grin.
"Right," Naruto said, closing his eyes, and opened it again in his normal light blue colors.
"Eh...?" Naruto mumbled with confusion. He was unable to activate his Rinnegan.
"Nice try. I've sealed up your Rinnegan since it would make everything too easy. Have fun now," a recorded voice in his head echoed with amusement. Kurama heard it as well.
"THAT BITCH!" Both Naruto and Kurama shouted in rage. The blond boy smashed his fist against a concrete wall in anger, shattering it. A web-like crack pattern formed with good amount of debris falling off from the impact point. Kite's eyes almost fell out of their socket at the feat.
'Such strength for someone so small, and that strike didn't seem to be aided by Nen, raw strength then?' Kite thought in astonishment, checking out the damage to the wall. Several authority figures nearby heard and immediately got to the scene.
"I'm sorry about that, it was my…" Kite pointed at an empty spot by his side. Naruto and Kurama had vanished as he looked around the rather vacated store for them.
"Where's the customer? He hasn't pay for them…" the owner about to say after he returned back into the room through the backdoor. His voice was chocked instantly when he saw the shattered wall. He dropped his jaw and shouted: "WHO DID THIS!?"
Kite held up his hand in defensive pose with sweat dropped. "Wait… it wasn't me, I mean… it was that blond kid."
"Are you saying a kid did this? Who do you think we are?" They all asked, pointing at the wall. As if some cruel joke or perfect timing, the wall finally collapsed into a rubble heap, revealing the outside road with a few people staring. Without delay, Kite bolted out the store through the newly created entrance.
"STOP HIM! THIEF!" the authority figures shouted and chased after the man. The Contract Hunter was a seasoned veteran, thus he was able to dash through the street and across the pier without breaking a sweat, all while looking for a young blond hair boy and his fox companion. Kite saw a small form of the culprit was running across the water toward the boat in the horizon and skidded across the cobblestone.
"Okay, I give up," Kite admitted his defeat. Anime tears streamed out his eyes as he took out his wallet, the chase finally ended when the chasers caught up to him.
"Wait, I will pay," Kite protested but they immediately pinned him down on the ground, and ignored his plead.
"You're under arrest! Damage of properties, public nuisance, evading arrest, shoplifting…" one of them asserted and continuing reading the list of offends.
"I'm going to pay you back for this Naruto!" Kite shouted at the sea and chuckled afterward.
"I hope you are a Hunter when we met again," Kite added softly. He was unconcerned about his arrest as being a professional Hunter had its benefit after all.
Author Note:
He has a twelve year old body so there won't be any serious adult stuff – when kids do it, it's fun and cute – when adult do it, you go to jail! Believe me, I know.
Rinnegan and all rinnegan related ability is sealed by the Shinigami.
Naruto strength is reduced because of his size, but still is potent.
Naruto has all his Jutsus. Naruto won't learn Nen. First, it's not possible or logical for him to be able to. Secondly, it removed the uniqueness from him. Beside, Charka is more OP than aura (NEN) without any drawback, so not much is lost there. Pairing? Not sure…
