When Dean says that he's going home, he doesn't think of the current motel room they're staying in. He doesn't mean their old house in Kansas. He thinks of Sam.
It doesn't matter where they are or what they are doing. It doesn't even matter if they're arguing or not.
As long as he has Sam to come back to, Dean knows he's never gonna be really homeless.
He downs another shot of whiskey and dials Sam's number, because he wants to thank him for that.
Sam's answers in a firm but concerned voice: "You've had enough, Dean, come home."
