Disclaimer: I don't own Frasier

The scream was so loud it woke Fraiser up and he was two houses down. It was a howl of agony and horror, not unlike someone who had been in the pit of hell and this was hell. It wasn't the kind of hell that you weep and gnash your teeth. No, that Dahpne would have welcomed. It was the kind of hell you never get out of your mind.

David was lying in his crib. He looked so peaceful. Dahpne went to kiss her seven week old son's forehead and noticed he was cold to the touch. She turned on the light. He was stiff. His lips were blue. It was as if he had been dead for hours. David had died in his sleep. The angels took him while he slept. His trial on Earth was over. He edwas an angel now.

"NILES," Dahpne screamed.
He came running in.

"Darling what is it," he asked.

"He's not breathing," Dahpne said handing him the dead infant, "BRING HIM BACK! BRING HIM BACK!"
Dahpne prayed that Niles would tell her she was imagining things. She prayed he would say that David was just sleeping but one look at his face dashed all hope of that.

He wrapped his arms around Dahpne comforting her while he tried to comfort himself as well. He had just lost the one person he loved as much as Dahpne or even more. It wasn't fair. He had to be strong for Dahpne. He had to comfort her. He had to get her through this. He could take care of himself later.

"It's alright darling," Niles said, "He's an angel now. He died in a moment without pain. Could he have lived an hour as happily?"

"IS THAT A QUOTE FROM FREUD," Dahpne asked.

"It's a quote from Tale of Two Cities," Niles said.
