Okay yeah, I'm not too thrilled about a certain upcoming episode. That and listening to Reba McEntire's "Cathy's Clown" is what caused this fic to come together. Yes the title of the story is a reference to the song itself.

Twenty-three year old Gretchen Adler gave a sad smile when she heard Ferb Fletcher's car pull up. The woman he was dating didn't love him anymore, she's was just making him her clown. It hurt her to see him with the years she had gotten better at hiding her emotions from him. As much as it killed her to see the guy she loved return to some one who doesn't truly love him.

"Hey Gretchen," The British man greeted her.

"Hey Ferb," She returned with a sigh.

"Something wrong?" Ferb asked as he peered at her, concern in his blue eyes.

"No. Not a thing," Gretchen returned, sharper than she intended.

"Oh...Okay then," Ferb said quietly.

Gretchen glanced over that the green haired man's expression. She didn't mean to snap at him. She loved him, it was plain and simple, but he would be Vanessa's clown for as long as he is dating her. Gretchen knew for a fact however that Vanessa was lying to him on a regular basis. The made her angry. How dare that gothic harlot lie to such a sweet and loving man? She wiped away a tear and looked over at Ferb once more. She could hear the song that was softly playing from her stereo, "Cathy's Clown" by Reba McEntire.

This song is so fitting, Gretchen thought to herself.

Ferb arched an eyebrow at her. She gave a simple shrug in answer. Ferb glanced at the time and gave a sigh.

"I have to go," he said.

"All right," Gretchen mumbled not looking up as he left. She heard his car start up. Tears welled up in her eyes as she heard the car pull away.

"You're Vanessa's clown, Ferb, you're Vanessa's clown," She whispered.
