A/N: Okay so I had writers block on my other story that I am working on, (A Newsie story) so I decided that I would write a little something on friend ship. I got the idea from the quote that is before the story. And it really doesn't have to do with stand by me but since the movie is about friendship I thought I would put it in here. I hope you like and I hope you will review and tell me what you think!!
Disclaimer: I do not own Stand by Me or any of the characters

friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they
arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

Chris's Point of view:
Friends may come in and out of your lives, but true friends are the ones who leave you with the memories. True friends are the ones you remember as the days pass by and you get older, when the memories all come rushing into your mind, and when you find your self in a familiar place.
Sometimes I wonder why I was even friends with some of those people. Did they really have any purpose in my life? But the way I see it everyone does. All the friends that come into your life open up a new world, a world that can only be opened through meeting this person.
Friends shape you into who you are, who you are going to become. They can put so much of themselves into you that after a while you become a whole new person. It may be a worse person, someone that you would have never wanted to become. That's when you have to stop and think; is this really what I want to be? Do I want to go on living like this or am I going to do something to change it? But if you're lucky they will change you into a better person, someone who you will be proud to be, a person that people will look at with respect.
Looking back on my childhood I realize that my true friends left the biggest impressions on me. Through all our time spent together they made me stronger, but also softer at the same time. They made me wise and dumber, brave and scared. Each one of them, Gordie Lachance, Teddy Duchamp, and Vern Tessio, left a different mark on me. If it wasn't for these three people I would have never become who I am today. I would never be able to look at my self in the mirror and like the person that I see staring back at me.
That's how I know they where my true friends. We may not have seen each other, or even talked for a long time, but their memories will always live in my heart. Every time I look at myself I will remember those long summer days of laughing and joking around. I will remember how important they were too me, and how important they still are. Never let the memories of your True friends fade away, because if you do then you are letting a part of yourself fade away as well!
