Disclaimer: I own no part of Final Fantasy.

Well, uh. I came up with this idea one night when lying in bed waiting for sleep to take me. Perhaps that is why it's so dumb.

I'm going to write a Valentine's Day fanfic, and then I'll get back to Familiar Realm. I'm so sluggish. xx;

Go Seahawks!

She stared down at her feet, eyes focusing in on the water below. She noticed that one shoelace was slightly shorter than the other.

Would that really matter once they buried her? If they could find her, that is.

There went another wave.

The water looked blue from up here, but she knew that once she got closer it would be a dirty green colour.

The colour of the water was deceptive.

Like so many other things.

Now, Tifa. She scolded herself. It wasn't fair of her to place all of the blame on a certain person.

The water below her made a swirling pattern and made her feel kind of dizzy. Her balance wavered, but she didn't fall.

She didn't grab anything for support, either.

She was kind of surprised that she could be standing here, in the middle of Midgar. She was out in the open, the fresh air threatening to blow her frail body into the water, even though the breeze wasn't harsh.

She shifted her weight from one foot to another and could feel the solidity of the bridge rail beneath her.

Solid.

Things in her life hadn't been solid since the day her mother had died.

Since the day that Sephiroth had come to her town and burned it down.

Since he had killed her father.

Since Cloud had come to save her and to give her false hope.

Tifa frowned to the water below her as she remembered her 'childhood friend'.

He had seemed infatuated with her when he had moved to Nibelheim. She hadn't paid much attention to him back then. That wasn't to say that she didn't like him, because she did.

He was different than most of the other boys. Especially Johnny.

She could recall just before she blacked out seeing Cloud's golden-clad head a few yards ahead of her.

Then came Aeris.

She didn't hate Aeris, oh no. Aeris had been her best friend. (Cloud had been her best friend too. She didn't do too well with best friends, did she?)

Cloud had just seen Aeris as more…more…everything than she.

When she thought about her relationship (or lack thereof) with Cloud right now, she scowled.

He was living with her and helping ever-so-slightly with the bar. He'd carry in the large boxes of liquor, or he'd help deal with the occasional drunkard. Other than that, she rarely saw the ex-SOLDIER.

Maybe she had something of a repellant about her. She supposed it wouldn't surprise her. It seemed that everyone was leaving these days.

Yuffie was always busy with matters having to do with Wutai.

Barret was busy taking care of his daughter and trying to rebuild the Planet after their ordeal with Sephiroth.

Reeve had long since put Cait Sith away, and was now heading a major cooperation that seemed creepily similar to ShinRa, though he assured her that it wasn't.

Cid was moping around and smoking twice as much as any man should. Tifa supposed he could have been nicer to Shera, but smoking himself to death over her absence wasn't helping anything.

Vincent was…well…who knew where Vincent was?

Nanaki was practically running Cosmo Canyon, and building a family of his own.

Tifa had always wanted a family. Wasn't it every girl's dream to grow up and marry a smart, strong, charming man and have wonderful, perfect kids?

Or maybe it was only her.

It didn't seem so far fetched, did it?

She inhaled the deep scent of beer.

"Tifa?"

She opened her eyes and turned around to look down at Cloud.

"Daydreaming?" He asked, tilting his head so slightly she never noticed.

Tifa stepped down off of the stool and threw the burned-out light bulb into the trash can.

"Yeah."
