Hiei was many things; a sore loser was amongst those. Ever since he lost this unusual human game called paper rock scissors in the tournament, he's wanted to master it. He couldn't take the fact that the oaf was better at something than himself, and as such, he needed to enlist someone to assist him with his training. The question remains: who to ask?
The demon's mind was whirling. Of course he wouldn't ask that ugly brute nor could he ask Yusuke. The spirit detective would merely laugh, and he had no desire to spend more time with the baboon than was necessary. He figured that he could ask the Kitsune, but the thought of asking the intelligent male about something so miniscule and unimportant would hang over his head like a rain cloud. No, there was only one other person he could ask…
He found her wandering about the woods, the fact that she was lost amused him; were he not there to implore her to help, he would've sat back in the trees and watched the entire scene with barely veiled glee. "Onna."
Botan jumped in surprise at the sudden voice that came from above. She stepped back nervously. Oh dear…I knew that an evening stroll through the woods wasn't a good idea! "Who's there?" The female forced herself to sound tough and unafraid, yet judging by the deep chuckle that sounded from the trees, she wasn't fooling anybody.
"Hn. You are not an intelligent creature, 'shinigami'." All of a sudden, a blur of black leapt down from the trees and landed directly in front of her.
"Gah! Hiei!" The bubbly female sighed in relief, clutching her frantically beating heart. "You could kill someone with such an entrance!"
"You aren't living, so you cannot die." He pointed out. "But that's beside the point. Onna, I'm not one who likes to repeat myself, so listen carefully; you will teach me the art of Rock Paper Scissors!"
The spirit deity paused in her scared actions to stare at the demon with a look akin to disbelief. "Huh?"
"Did I not just say that I would not repeat myself?" He growled. "Now teach me!"
She blinked a couple of times as if to ensure that she wasn't dreaming. "Well Hiei…It's not exactly a skill that you can perfect." She placed a pale finger up to her chin, adopting a thoughtful look. "It is more like something that has to do with luck; like gambling!"
His eyebrows threaded downwards. "So…it is nothing but a fool's game of chance?"
"Exactly!" Botan replied happily with a merry chuckle. "That is exactly what you could call it!"
"Hmph." He leapt up into the air and landed perfectly poised on a thin branch far above the female's head. "I regret wasting my time over such a thing." He muttered, ignoring the deity's pleas for directions. He sped off, leaving the female there to fend for himself, silently grateful that it really wasn't Kurama that he went to for this. No, stupid questions and problems were things he took up with the onna and would for then on…If she ever made it out of the forest that is.
