When Herky's gum shield was finally fixed, he was very happy indeed
"Now I wouldn't be fussing and shaking!" He cried.
Tracy, Jay Jay and Snuffy all thought this wonderful.
"That's great Herky!" Snuffy cried.
"We should tell the others!" Tracy added.
Savannah, Barton and Old Oscar were very pleased to hear this, and so was Orland. But when they told Big Jake, he was less than convinced that the problem was fixed.
I don't know, Jay Jay." He said doubtfully. I think this problem hasn't gone away yet. That sort of thing doesn't just go away in a puff of smoke." He said carefully.
This disenheartened the young planes, but Jay Jay refused to give up on the belief that the problem was sorted.
"We'll show you, Big Jake- but we'll have to wait until tonight when Herky's asleep and wearing his gum shield. Then you'll see that Herky wouldn't fuss and shake with it back on!"
Big Jake thought for a moment, then he relented.
"Alright, Jay Jay- I'll see this for myself." He decided.
"Great!" The young blue plane replied. "See you tonight!"
...
That night, Tracy, Snuffy and Jay Jay all met Big Jake outside the hanger.
"Okay is Herky asleep?" Big Jake asked in a whisper.
"Yeah- but we should to make sure he's definitely asleep." Tracy replied, equally quiet.
So they waited a few minutes, and then they trooped inside.
...
Sure enough, when Big Jake arrived at the helicopter's hanger, Herky was fast asleep- and he wasn't fussing and shaking now.
"Looks like I was wrong." Big Jake commented. "I'm sorry I doubted you Jay Jay."
"That's alright Big Jake." Jay Jay replied.
So from then on, Big Jake learned to have faith in Jay Jay.
